Chris Country gives The Rising's Rebound its first spin! Check it out now at Lyric Magazine!

The Rising's Rebound receives first radio play from Chris Country, followed by Lyric Magazine premiering a stream
Rebound is taken from upcoming album Moving On. Video premiered on The Boot

We wanted to release Rebound as the first release from our new album for a number of reasons. Firstly, a lot of people know us for poppy, happy go lucky type of songs based upon our previous singles, so we wanted to show that we are more than that; show a different side of ourselves that people may not know. Secondly, we also feel that Rebound kind of sums up our new sound and direction. There seems to be endless talk and argument of what is and is not County Music. Tireless arguments play out daily across the internet. So we knew coming into this album that we wanted to deliberately fuse ‘Modern Country’ with ‘Traditional Country’

The Rising are pleased to announce the release of their band new album “MOVING ON”. Recorded in the band’s native hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland at the bands own studio Renegade Studios and also PlethoraTone Studios, Nashville, TN (USA).

The new album is set up with the release of brand new song “Rebound”. This song is an instant gratification single when you pre-order the album. The song charts the feelings that occur during a messy breakup. When we may be inclined to fill that void by looking for love in the wrong places at the wrong time.

Moving On is very much as transitional album for the band for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is the first full-length release for the new version of the band after the bands debut release “Coming Home”. They have however released the Christmas Single “This Special Time Of Year” last December and also what was supposed to be the first single from this album  “Last First Love”. But due to the many personal battles fought during the making of this record, “Last First Love” ended up being a stand-alone release to introduce the new version of the band. These personal battles resulted in massive delays to the album. One of these battles was guitarist Chris Logan being involved in a serious accident where he was hit by a bus. This resulted in many broken bones and the accident happened before any guitar parts were recorded. So the band had to wait many months until Chris was able to play again.

However, this downtime resulted in the band being able to grow musically because of the forced time off. This allowed the songs to be looked at it greater detail, reworked or simply dropped and replaced. The resulting album is very different to the one that was originally thought to be nearly finished. During this period we lost two band members. So a 5-piece band was scaled right back to the core three members.

It is for these reasons that the album is called Moving On. A reflection of what we went through as a band during the making of this record and the progression of our music.

The album was partly funded thanks to a successful PledgeMusic Campaign. Thanks to people’s generous donations we are able to release the album on physical formats such as a limited edition Vinyl.

The band has fully embraced a strong DIY ethos for this album. Previously they worked with major names in the Country Music world help to produce their music such as Grammy Nominated Mills Logan (Taylor Swift, Eric Pasley, Luke Bryan, Toby Keith, Kristian Bush) who mixed the bands last record. This time the band went into the project knowing they wanted to do things their way. So they dry hired studios and also worked in guitarist Chris Logan’s Renegade Recording Studios. Using the benefit of having a certified ProTools Operator in the band. The band also mixed the record. It was only at the mastering stage where an outside set of ears was brought in to give the record a final gloss. This was overseen by Pete Maher ((U2, The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry).

The band did however enlist additional musicians in the making of the record. These included Chris Brush (Drums), John McCullough (Piano/Hammond/Rhodes), Lauren Bird (Ukulele) and Tommy Detamore (PedalSteel).

The Rising are best described as a Country Pop/Country Rock band. But they don’t like to be defined by any particular genre. They like to write and let the songs kind of decide for themselves what they are going to sound like. So whilst the band are born and raised on Country Music from classic artists all the way through to modern artists they are equally at home listening and enjoying top 40 radio and all genres of music. But it’s the band’s love of storytelling lyrics and songs with meaning that inspires their love and affinity with Country Music.

The band name however, comes from a Bruce Springsteen album that has and continues to inspire all members of the band.

The bands previous two singles  “This Special Time Of Year” and “Last First Love” have achieved success with the latter single being exclusively premiered by US based Country Music Bible ‘The Boot’. In the days after the premiere, the video went on to achieve over 25,000 views on the bands VEVO page. Both singles have also enjoyed heavy radio play and playlisting globally, including USA, UK, Europe, Ireland and beyond.

The band have been lucky enough to gather support from the likes of RTE Radio, BBC Radio, Radio 2 with the likes of Graham Norton, Gaby Roslin and Alex Lester championing the band from their very first single.

Their music video hit Number 1 in the CM&T International Artists Music Video Chart (USA & Sky TV). iTunes also featured the band on their front page banner for several months as well as featuring both the single and album in “New & Featured” section.

The band have toured constantly since its formation including the chance to perform at the Country 2 Country festival in London’s O2 two years in a row, firstly, in 2015 and again in 2016. Constant touring around the UK and Ireland has helped the band build their fan-base with every show. Shows have included their own shows (the most recent being a headline tour in March/April 2017), festivals and also touring alongside the likes of Jess & The Bandits, The Shires, Ward Thomas and many other top acts.

Early in the bands career their constant touring and hard working ethic brought the band to the attention of the British Country Music Awards in 2015 with a nomination for the Horizon Award.
