UK CHART NEWS

Official UK Top 100 Singles Chart (Week Ending 9 August 2018)
03 August 2018 - 09 August 2018
Its consumption down for the first time – falling 12.89% to 82,569 units, including 70,209 from sales-equivalent streams (12,360 pure sales) – In My Feelings was No.1 for the third straight week for Drake. Providing his 13th week at No.1 this year, and his 29th in all, it easily triumphs in an unchanged top three, where former chart-topper Shotgun by George Ezra is runner-up for the fourth time in a row (72,744 sales), while Jonas Blue’s Rise (feat. Jack & Jack) held steady at No.3 on sales of 43,229, after climbing for eight weeks in a row.

Official UK Top 100 Albums Chart (Week Ending 9 August 2018)
03 August 2018 - 09 August 2018
The Mamma Mia! phenomenon continues to grow, with the new Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again soundtrack continuing at No.1 with sales on the rise as it spins off three Top 75 singles.
The album sees a 17.45% increase in sales week-on-week to 40,708 (including 8,020 from sales-equivalent streams + 32,688 pure sales) as it strengthened its lead over the Motion Picture Cast Recording of The Greatest Showman (2-2, 25,935 sales) at the top of the album chart. Its 2008 predecessor – the original Mamma Mia! soundtrack album – also enjoyed a 4.67% hike in sales to 10,015 as it holds at No.5.

13 LUCKY FOR SOME: Northern Irish country singer Catherine McGrath scored her UK chart debut at No.13 with first album TALK OF THIS TOWN (3,839 sales).
Country singer/songwriter Catherine McGrath from County Down in Northern Ireland got major airplay support from BBC Radio 2 for her single Lost In The Middle. Aptly McGrath has commented on the numerous, positive comparisons her work so far has drawn with early Taylor Swift material.
“I actually really love being compared to her because that’s the reason I got into country music,” said McGrath. “It’s interesting to see how she’s developed, but I really love her older sound. I couldn’t see myself doing anything as poppy as Taylor Swift is now, but we’ll see what happens… I actually met her after her show in Dublin but didn’t really say much, I was very star-struck!”
As far as we know Catherine's is the 5th best selling debut by a UK Country artist.

Of Note: Taylor Swift's UK debut sold only 38 copies the week of its release date, peaking 94 weeks later at #81(12/09/2009) and has spent 3 weeks on the Official UK Album Chart.

Northern Irish band The Rising blend fresh-faced pop/rock with Modern Country stylings fresh from Nashville. The band's style is informed by a wide number of influences. Refusing to be defined by one genre they firmly believe that music is music regardless of what genre tags it happens to have. Taking influence from contemporary Pop, Rock as wells the updated Country Sounds of artists such as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini and many others. The band have toured constantly since its formation including the chance to perform at the Country 2 Country festival in London’s O2 two years in a row, firstly, in 2015 and again in 2016. Constant touring around the UK and Ireland has helped the band build their fan-base with every show. Shows have included their own shows (the most recent being a headline tour in March/April 2017), festivals and also touring alongside the likes of Jess & The Bandits, The Shires, Ward Thomas and many other top acts.

Jessica Meuse - Thank God It Didn't Work (>> Official Lyric Video)
Penned by Meuse, her 15-song “Halfhearted” album is a retrospect of her life, loves, and breakups, which is aptly being released to coincide with National Girlfriend Day.  Meuse gained national attention as an American Idol Top 4 and became the first person in the history of the hit TV series to perform her own composition in the show’s finals.
“There is so much great quality and strength in her voice.” - Jennifer Lopez
“Jess comes to bring it. She is great!” - Harry Connick Jr.
Meuse’s debut full-length album features 15 songs she penned, including “Without You,” a duet with fellow American Idol alumni Bo Bice. “I wrote most of these songs after Idol, and they are a direct reflection of everything I have gone through emotionally and mentally in the time that’s followed,” says Meuse.
Her single, "Thank God It Didn't Work," is being serviced to country outlets around the country.
"One of the songs I’ve been focusing on is ‘Thank God It Didn’t Work” which is my very first co-write (with Kelly Walls and David Norris of Nashville, TN),” said Jessica.  "It’s a big powerhouse song, both vocally and lyrically, about everything in life that didn’t work out and it actually ended up being a good thing.

(3 Aug 2018) Charissa "Feel Good Song"
Charissa is a singer/songwriter from Burlington, Ontario. As a young child, she began singing along to Disney songs and later, began curiously strumming on a guitar and learning basic chords in order to accompany herself. She enrolled in vocal and guitar lessons and began to play acoustically at a local coffee house, helping her gain valuable performance experience in front of an audience.

In the summer of 2009, she entered the CNE Rising Star Talent Competition as a timid 12 year old. But, it didn't take long for her to impress the judges in each of the preliminary rounds. The maturity and conviction in her voice along with her guitar skills, secured her a spot in the finals and was ultimately crowned junior and grand champions of the competition. A feat that no one had ever accomplished at such a young age.
With titles in hand, she embarked on her musical journey, gaining local recognition and awards along the way.  She has spent the last 8 years performing on many stages and in many venues, from small backyard get-togethers to large outdoor stages and a little bit of everything in between, and always making time to support local charities.
Often described as an old soul, her powerful vocals command your attention every time she steps up to a microphone. The warm distinctive tone in her voice, combined with her gentle natural vibrato creates a unique and inspiring sound. Her love and passion in performing is evident every time she gets in front of an audience, delivering dynamic and emotional performances impressing audiences of all ages.

Notable appearances include performances at the award winning Sound of Music Festival, City of Burlington Canada Day Festivities, CHCH TV Live Music Fridays, and Nashville's legendary Blue Bird Cafe. She is currently writing and recording for her first solo project, a unique country blend, revealing musical influences spanning across genres.

Listen to “For Days” here.

“When Hope and I originally sat down earlier this year to write “For Days” we loved the idea and had a vision for what we wanted it to be. This song comes from a really honest place for both of us.

We love remembering when we first started to fall for our significant others. We want to write songs that we believe in and that we feel our fans will connect with and I think “For Days” is one that they’ll fall in love with and keep on repeat!” says Edwards.
The single was co-written by Bryan Edwards, Hope Nix, and David Thulin, who also produced the track. “When I met David Thulin and heard his previous projects, I knew that he was the right person to produce this song,” Says Edwards.
