LONDON,
UK. – (August
15th, 2025) – Acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriter Sykamore released
her long-awaited single ‘He’s Mine’, a moving fan
favourite from her live shows, and the follow up to ‘Country Kid’, released
earlier this year. The release comes one week before her highly anticipated
return to the UK for The Long Road Festival (Aug. 22-24), where
she will showcase her signature blend of heartfelt storytelling and modern
country-pop charm.

Produced
by Bobby Campbell (‘Nashville’) and written solely by Sykamore, ‘He’s
Mine’ was inspired by a poignant moment at a family member’s wedding. Noticing
the absence of songs celebrating the emotional mother-son bond during a wedding
reception, she set out to fill that void.
“I
couldn’t help but notice there is a lot of focus on the father giving his
daughter away at a wedding, but people hardly ever speak of what a mother
endures when she gives away her son,” she says. “I have to imagine it’s
just as hard, and just as much of a dynamic shift for a mom to go through that.”
Despite
being one of her most requested live tracks, ‘He’s Mine’ remained unreleased
for years as Sykamore meticulously refined it.
“I’ve
cut it about four times, with the intent to put it out. But each time there was
some obstacle or another that made me second guess myself. It’s a very special
song to me, and I needed to be sure it was done perfectly before I turned it
loose on the world.”
The
wait is over and the song is everything you would hope a mama’s boy ballad to
be; chock full of sweet memories, intricate details, and a chorus that sweeps
its listeners right off their feet. It may have taken a minute to arrive, but
it’s safe to say ‘He’s Mine’ is more than certainly worth the wait.
ABOUT
SYKAMORE:
There
is a magic that swirls around Sykamore, an almost ethereal feeling that takes
one back to the simplicity of the singer/songwriter days of old, but with a
modern twist that can be heard as soon as she sings. Singing of love,
vulnerability, chaotic relationships and sweet beginnings, her catalogue
includes, 2018’s Self + Medicine, 2020’s ‘California King’, and 2022’s
critically acclaimed Pinto which received a 2023 Country Music Alberta
Awards nomination for “Album of the Year”. Pinto alone has amassed over
10 million streams and produced standout tracks like ‘Highway Towns’, ‘More
Where That Came From’, and her autobiographical ‘Country Kid’.
Hailing
from Calgary, Alberta and now based in Nashville, TN, Sykamore was discovered
in 2017 by veteran songwriter Rhett Akins, who signed her to Home Team
Publishing (founded by Akins, Thomas Rhett, Virginia Davis, and Roc
Nation/Warner Chappell). She has already had an impressive start to her early
career, including supporting the Eli Young Band on their 10 Years: 10,000
Towns Tour in 2024, earning a spot in CMT’s “Next Women in Country” Class
of 2020, and seen her single ‘Go Easy On Me’ featured on Apple Music’s The Ty
Bentli Show and in a nationwide (US) Boot Barn campaign.
