The awards panel writes: “Although there are the usual names in a lot of cases, there are one or two new ones joining the mix. The ultimate decision rests on industry people who will get the chance to vote on the nominees in many of the categories”.

BBC Radio 2 favourites Ward Thomas who had very surprisingly received no nominations from the self appointed BCMAward panel now pleasingly find themselves named in the UK Song of the Year, UK Album of the Year and Song Writer of the Year categories.

The Edge susu.co.uk Review (by Hannah Mylrea Sept 29): The Bridge, Southampton Student’s Union’s bar...Their short set was harmonious and full of brilliant, belting choruses; however it was a shame that they hadn’t played an hour earlier as they just missed the lunch rush, and as a result, the venue wasn’t as packed as it could have been. That being said, the select audience seemed to be enjoying the duo’s dulcet tones whilst they grazed on their chip butties.....You rarely hear country done properly in the UK, but The Shires aced it, and put on a superb start to the Coffee House sessions.

Hereford’s Sasha McVeigh has a Kickstarter to try and fund her debut album. 19 backers have so far pledged £2,179 of a £6,000 goal with 26 Days left. The album will be like my musical, rhyming diary with different stories/songs as the entries.
Hereford Times: Related Post Hereford singer on a country mission……But while country
music in America remains very popular, it is less so in the UK. “I do think that, because of the country music festival at the O2, it’s starting to re-emerge. I think the fans are here but the problem is that they’re dispersed across the country,” said Sasha.“I desperately want to bring country music back in the UK.”
The former Fairfield High School student is currently completing a UK tour, having opened Rock the Farm Festival at Chase Distillery in Herefordshire last month, and in November she’ll be heading back to Nashville to record a full album, funded through Kickstarter. “That’s the only thing that’s sad – it’s very money-driven and people who have money tend to get where they are going faster that people who don’t,” she added. “But it’s genuinely the music that makes me happy. If you are enjoying yourself then you never have to work.”

Ward Thomas posted on Facebook Who out there is free on Thursday evening (Oct 2) and wants to be in our music video for #waybackwhen ??!

UK CHART NEWS

Official UK Top 100 Singles Chart (Week Ending October 4, 2014)
On its sixth week in the Top 10, Taylor Swift’sShake It Off” enjoyed its best week yet, in terms of both sales and position. Previously moving 4-4-6-4-5 (sales 37,595 / 40,589 / 38,325 / 42,092 / 45,294), the track climbed to No.3 on sales of 56,486.  Shake It Off has become the sixth single by Tay to sell upwards of a quarter of a million copies, with a to-date tally of 260,381 copies putting it behind “I Knew You Were Trouble” (817,656), “Love Song” (648,370), “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (615,751), “Everything Has Changed” (feat. Ed Sheeran, 350,874) and “22” (301,102).

Carrie-Okie - Carrie Underwood appeared on the Top 100 at No.94 with “I Know You Wont” (RCA; from the album Carnival Ride written by Wendell Mobley, Neil Thrasher, McEwan) for what is believed to be her first time having failed previously to go higher than No.120. The single "Blown Away" for instance reached a #155 peak.
The reason for this chart place was however due to X-Factor hopeful Kerrianne Covell whose >> performance of the song reduced Wembley’s audience to tears and sent her on her way to boot camp.

The 23-year-old Teesside shoe shop assistant got four thumbs up from judges on the ITV show during the second round of auditions in front of thousands when the former Stockton Riverside student who stands at just 5ft and half an inch, belted out  Underwood’s song.
Before she performed it Simon Cowell told her that he “discovered” Carrie Underwood during her American Idol fourth series days
Kerrianne’s flawless performance received a standing ovation and celebrity following from the American country-rock singer herself who tweeted her approval.
Country isn’t that big in the UK so I knew it was a risk singing Carrie’s song,” said Kerrianne who lives on Keithlands Avenue, in Norton. “I’ve followed Carrie for years and it was my mam who said I needed to sing it at X-Factor.
Carrie tweeted: "Saw a girl named Kerrianne Covell singing 'I Know You Won't' on X Factor. Not easy to sing but she made it look like it was! Well done!" Wow!
Kerrianne now jets off to a secret location where she will audition again in front of mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini in a bid to reach the live shows.

Wayfaring Strangers: The Musical Voyage from Scotland and Ulster to Appalachia [Kindle Edition With Audio/Video] (384 pages) by Fiona Ritchie  (Author), Doug Orr  (Author) forward by Dolly Parton.
Throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a steady stream of Scots migrated to Ulster and eventually onward across the Atlantic to resettle in the United States. Their enduring legacy of music flows today from Appalachia back to Ireland and Scotland and around the globe. In
Wayfaring Strangers, Fiona Ritchie and Doug Orr guide readers on a musical voyage across oceans, linking people and songs through centuries of adaptation and change. *** includes a CD featuring 20 songs by musicians profiled in the book, including Dolly Parton, Dougie MacLean, Cara Dillon, John Doyle, Pete Seeger, Sheila Kay Adams, Jean Ritchie, Doc Watson, David Holt, Anais Mitchell, Al Petteway, and Amy White.

COUNTRY GOSSIP

The recent Billboard cover star and “country music sensation” Jason Aldean proposed to his girlfriend, former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr, on Tuesday at the San Diego Zoo.
Aldean kisses Kerr
Aldean ended his previous marriage to start a relationship with Kerr, which earned the singer some negative attention. He complained recently to Billboard about the media attention his relationship with Kerr has caused: “It has been two years of this shit — get over it, already!” Aldean says. “And then when I finally do get enough of it and say something, every newspaper grabs it. And I’m not trying to get in the headlines — I’m just trying to get people to stop running their mouths.”..Read  Editor’s Note

Kerr posted a photo on her Instagram page from the zoo, saying "My man did it again. Today was amazing. #sandiegozoo #myeverything" - Image - Image
Yes Aldean is letting his fans into his personal life like never before via Instagram, and it's all thanks to his new fianceé, Brittany Kerr. Before they started dating, Jason would never have dreamed of posting photos of himself having a beer with Kenny Chesney or fishing with one of his daughters on the Internet. Jason told ABC News Radio, " Used to, I would have been like, 'Man, I'm not putting that on Instagram. Are you crazy?" Now, I'm like. "I don't care, man. Just whatever." Make fun of myself. Like, whatever." In some ways, Jason and Brittany were forced into the public eye when photographs of them together surfaced on TMZ while Jason was still married to his former wife. At that point, Jason wasn't comfortable sharing his personal life with the public at all. "I've always been very private," Jason admits. "You know, I want people to see what I want them to see, and all of the sudden, going through what we've gone through, it's like, we didn't have a choice. People got let into things that were crazy."

An 18-year-old man who had been accused of raping a 17-year-old girl at a Keith Urban concert in the Boston area in July is no longer facing charges. Massachusetts' The Sun Chronicle reports Assistant District Attorney Mary-Elizabeth Mack told a judge the case against Sean Murphy was dropped following "extensive" conversations with the accuser, noting that the girl agreed with the decision. A lawyer for Murphy described the encounter as a "consensual act." The concert at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts, made news when 46 people had to be treated for alcohol-related illnesses, and several alcohol-related arrests were made.

Carrie Underwood: I Still Can’t Believe I’m Having a Baby (People Magazine) ..“Sometimes I’ll be with my husband, and it’s like, ‘I’m gonna be a mom. You’re gonna be a dad. Is this real life?’ But we’re really excited.” As far as what kind of mom she’ll be, Underwood hopes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. “I have a wonderful mother,” she said. “If I can be even a little bit like that, I think we’ll be good.”

Honeysuckle Hill Farm in Springfield, TN created a huge corn maze designed in the shape of Luke Bryan's face.
Tyler and Brian from Florida Georgia Line also had their faces made into a corn maze that opened this weekend in Loganville, Georgia.
