Billboard Top 200 / Country Album Chart News (Chart issue week of August 10, 2019)

The Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

NF Scores Second No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With 'The Search'
NF scored his second No.1 album on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart (BB200) as the rapper’s latest studio effort, THE SEARCH, entered atop the tally.
The set, which was released on July 26 via NF Real Music/Caroline, starts with 130,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 1 according to Nielsen Music -- the fourth-largest week for a rap album released in 2019. Of that sum, 84,000 were in album sales, which made it the biggest sales week for a rap set this year.
The Search’s first-week more than doubles the debut frame of NF’s last album, Perception, which opened at No. 1 with 55,000 units earned (of which 38,000 were in album sales) on the chart dated Oct. 28, 2017.
The Search starts with a larger-than-forecast number, as some industry prognosticators thought the album would bow with around 95,000 units. The Search benefited from sturdy sales sold through traditional means like the iTunes Store, a range of merchandise/album bundles sold via NF’s official webstore -- including a few late-in-the-week new offers of signed merch bundled with an album -- and a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer.

Billboard Top Country Albums (Chart issue week of August 10, 2019)
Top Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA) “sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.
Nielsen Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to billboard biz ), exclusively comprising Nielsen’s sales data.

Luke Combs’ debut LP, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU (River House/Columbia Nashville/Sony Music Nashville) broke the record for the most weeks at No. 1 for a set by a male on Top Country Albums as it crowned the survey for a 44th frame (22,000 equivalent album units, down 5%, in the week ending Aug. 1). It passed Randy Travis’ Always & Forever, which ruled for 43 weeks beginning in June 1987. Since the list launched in January 1964, just one title has spent more time at No.1 than This One’s for You: Shania Twain’s Come on Over, which led for 50 weeks beginning in November 1997.
THIS ONE'S FOR YOU was No.3 on Country Album Sales behind debuts from Justin Moore’s Late Nights And Longnecks and Casey Donahew with One Light Town
Meanwhile, Combs’ latest release, THE PREQUEL (River House/Columbia Nashville/ Sony Music Nashville), fell 3-5 (39-50 BB200) in its eighth frame.

Country Aircheck MEDIABASE Chart

August 5, 2019

Luke Combs Takes #1 Spot With 'Beer Never Broke My Heart'
Congrats to Luke Combs, Steve Hodges, Shane Allen and the Columbia promotion team on earning this week’s No.1 with “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” The song is Combs’ sixth consecutive chart-topper and the first from his EP, THE PREQUEL. Songwriters are Randy Montana, Jonathan Singleton, Scott Moffatt and Combs.

Beer Never Broke My Heart Girl” (River House/Columbia) rose 2-1 logging 8,504 radio spins (+692), 51.74 million audience impressions (+5.99) with 27051 Total Points (+2282) from 157 tracking stations (157 ADDS) for the tracking week July 28 to August 3, 2019 and published chart dated August 5, 2019.

Oh GIRL!. Maren Morris with previous week’s No.1 Girl” slumped 1-15 with possibly one of largest drops from #1 on Mediabase country chart. Almost half of the spins were gone and dropped at the rate of 4 million audience per day! That would tie “Coming Home” by Keith Urban (feat. Julia Michaels) for biggest fall from #1 on Mediabase.
Maren lost 25 million in total Mediabase audience, which is astounding. Keith’s for comparison lost 20 million.
The song was pushed hard by the label for peak week, and radio was clearly ready to move onto another single. Once the promo stopped, radio dropped it like a stone.

Kane Brown Is Most-Added With 'Homesick'
Congratulations to RCA NASHVILLE's KANE BROWN, who earned 55 MEDIABASE adds for his single, "Homesick," making it the most added-record at Country radio this week.

RCA Nashville celebrated Kane Brown's single, "Homesick," being most-added at Country radio this week with a bagel delivery from All Access. Brown earned 55 adds for the week, for a total of 62 since the record's impact. Pictured (L-R): RCA Nashville Mgr./Southwest Promotion Mallory Michaels, SVP/Promotion Dennis Reese, RCA mascot Nipper, Dir./Midwest Promotion Matt Galvin and Promotion Specialist Nicole Walden

Kudos to Dennis Reese and the RCA reps on notching 55 adds for Kane Brown’s Homesick”. The song topped the "Most Added" board this chart week.
