Country rocker Steven Tyler and talented newbie Kelsea Ballerini helped announce the nominees for the 49th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday (Sept 9, 2015).

The news was delivered across several ABC properties.
At sunrise, Ballerini and Tyler were on hand in Times Square to announce the nominees in five categories live on air on Good Morning America; the announcements aired in the 7:30AM half-hour segment. Tyler and Ballerini announced the rest of the nominees at around 8:10AM on GoodMorningAmerica.com.

With just under two months left until the 2015 CMA Awards air on Nov. 4, the nominees for "Country Music's Biggest Night" were revealed on ABC's Good Morning America Wednesday morning (Sept. 9).

Ballerini herself who exclaimed, "That's not real!" upon hearing of her very first and two nominations. The finalists for the remaining seven categories were broadcast on a live stream later in the program.

The 2015 CMA nominees contained a mixture of the biggest superstars in the genre Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Garth Brooks -- and some of the genre's hottest newcomers such as Sam Hunt, female duo Maddie & Tae, and Chris Stapleton. For the eighth consecutive year, new mummy Underwood and Brad Paisley will serve as the show's co-hosts when it airs live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 4 at 8pm ET. See the list of nominees below.
Leading the 49th Annual CMA Awards nominations

Little Big Town crushed it with their song "Girl Crush" and are tied with Eric Church with five nominations each at this year's Country Music Association Awards.
The four-part vocal group rode the success of the media hype and critical acclaim to nominations for Album, Group, Musical Event, Music Video and Single of the Year.
Eric Church snagged noms for Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Single, Musical event and Song of the Year (Church is co-writer with Luke Laird).
Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert received four nominations each. 12 time CMA winner Miranda has now amassed 38 CMA nominations if if she wins CMA Female Vocalist of the Year once again she would extend the winning streak to six years. Now divorced from former CMA Entertainer of the Year Blake Shelton he too could extended his Male Vocalist reign to six straight wins.

Singer-songwriters stood out in this year's nominations with Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, Sam Hunt and Maddie & Tae (Madison Marlow and Taylor Dye) all receiving three nominations.

On the chart Dec 20, 2014  "Girl In A Country Song" reached No.1 for Maddie & Tae for 1 week on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Their current quality single “Fly” is Top 10 (current peak #9). Their debut  album, START HERE (outside of the CMA voting eligibility period) released with an acoustic concert in Nashville Tuesday night (Aug 18). Start Here (Dot/Republic/Big Machine Label Group) has opened at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (dated Sept.19) with 23,682 sales in the week ending Sept. 3, according to Nielsen Music. The album marks the strongest unit debut by a female duo on Top Country Albums since The Wreckers (Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp) 44K bow back in 2006.

Reigning 2014 CMA Entertainer Luke Bryan has two nominations along with Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton.

The Garth Brooks World Tour which began on Sept 4, 2014 with wife Trisha Yearwood has garnered him a nomination for Entertainer of the Year once again. The tour is Brooks' first in 13 years after coming out of retirement and launched in support of his 2014 album, MAN AGAINST MACHINE. The album made a debut at No.1 on the Country chart selling 130,000 copies (dated Nov 29, 2014) and held the top of the chart for 6 non-consecutive weeks. Brooks is a 3 times CMA Entertainer of the Year winner which he last won in 1997. His previous CMA nomination was for Album of the Year (1998) for SEVENS (Capitol).

Two times CMA New Artist nominee Lee Brice has a Single Of The Year nomination for I Don’t Dance”. Last year it was beaten out by Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow” in the Song category. ‘I Don’t Dance’ has taken home Single Record of the Year honours at The 50th Academy of Country Music Awards. In 2013 "I Drive Your Truck" performed by Lee Brice won Song of the Year for writers Connie Harrington, Jessi Alexander and Jimmy Yeary.

Kelsea Ballerini landed her first nominations with two nods for Female Vocalist and New Artist!

Kelsea landed a #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase Charts with "Love Me Like You Mean It" (writers Kelsea Ballerini, Josh Kerr, Forest Glen Whitehead, Lance Carpenter). On June 22, 2015 Black River Entertainment artist Kelsea became the first Country female solo to debut #1 since Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take The Wheel" in January 2006! Ballerini’s #1 marked the first time a solo female has landed at #1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart ( issue date July 4, 2015) in nearly three years since Carrie Underwood’s "Blown Away" on Nov. 3, 2012! Her EP sold just 1,100 copies with a #40 Country Album debut (chart March 28, 2015) but followed up with her album THE FIRST TIME with debuts at #31 Billboard 200/ #22 Top Albums Sales and #4 Country Albums selling 13,465 copies (chart June 6, 2015).
Chris Stapleton
THE BIGGEST SURPRISE among the familiar CMA faces that grabbed 2015 noms was certainly Chris Stapleton after grabbing his three early 2015 nominations for Album, Male Vocalist and New Artist . One of those included Male Vocalist Of The Year surprisingly freezing out Sam Hunt of the category despite the huge success he’s had with 3 chart topping singles, biggest selling country artist in the first quarter 2015 and his album MONTEVALLO topped the chart issue date Nov 15, 2014 selling 69,849 copies and has enjoyed eight non-consecutive weeks atop the album chart .

Stapleton’s album TRAVELLER made a debut at #14 on the Billboard 200 Album chart and #2 on Country Albums selling 27,032 copies (chart issued May 23, 2015)

Jason Aldean be complaining some as he was once again snubbed by the CMA voting members—as in 2014—from both the Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year categories. In March Aldean remarried when he wed his curveous sexy busty American Idol mistress-turned-wife Brittany Kerr in Mexico.

Reba McEntire was absent from a Female Vocalist nomination despite her comeback singles and album LOVE SOMEBODY which made bows at #3 Billboard 200 Albums and a #1 Billboard Country album (58,351 sales; chart May 2, 2015).
Perhaps she was edged out by Lee Ann Womack who after a long absence made a debut in October 2014 at No.99 (#18 Country) selling a disappointing 3,400 copies of her highly acclaimed album THE WAY I'M LIVIN' (Sugar Hill). On a small Inde label and losing country airplay on the Billboard monitored stations did not helped its cause. However the great critical acclaim, The Way I'm Livin received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Country Album at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards!

Willie Nelson (82) and Merle Haggard (78) together the country legends logged the oldest duo ever to have a UK chart album, with DJANGO & JIMMIE were nominated for Musical Event of the Year for their collaborative album. On the charts issued June 20, 2015 Nelson & Haggard’s album opened with 30,408 copies (#7 Billboard 200, #4 Top Album Sales, #1 Country Albums).

Songwriter Shane McAnally has a chance of retaining a CMA Song Of The Year Award as a co-writer of two nominated songs "American Kids" (Kenny Chesney) and "Take Your Time" (Sam Hunt). Last year he joined Kacey Musgraves and Brandy Clark as the part of the writing team penning Musgraves ground breaking “Follow Your Arrow”.
Press Release: Shane McAnally VS. Shane McAnally Takes Center Stage At CMA Awards Hit Songwriter and Producer Earns Four Nominations Including Two in Song of the
Year Category, Impacts Single and Album of the Year at the 49th Annual Awards Show

Shane McAnally pulled off a rare, if not unprecedented feat, Wednesday morning when he was nominated for four CMA Awards – twice in the Song of the Year category (Kenny Chesney’s “American Kids” and Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time”), Single of the Year for “Take Your Time” as a producer and Album of the Year for Kacey Musgraves’ Pageant Material (as a producer) and unofficially squares off with himself for Song of the Year for the 49th Annual CMA Awards. The hit songwriter and producer reached a number of milestones with his four nominations.

He joins Alan Jackson as the only songwriters to have two of his songs compete in the Song of the Year category in different years. - Read More

The only International artist to stop the American monopoly is New Zealand born Keith Urban with one nomination for Musical Event Of The Year with "Raise 'Em Up, feat. Eric Church. Last year Keith was a winner in the category with “We Were Us” featuring Miranda Lambert. One wonder how close Canada’s Shania Twain came to a nomination after going on tour for the first time in 11 years, and announcing it will be her last tour before her long awaited fifth studio album? The former 1999 Entertainer of the Year was last nominated for Musical Event of the Year (2005) with Party For Two (Shania Twain w/ Billy Currington).

Despite the fact that if you threw a stick in Nashville you’d probably hit an A-list guitarist, keyboard player or percussionist the exaxt same 5 musicians who were nominated in 2014 are once again nominated for Musician Of The Year. Perhaps it should be renamed the Mac McAnally trophy as last year he won for the seventh time, extending his streak for most consecutive wins in the category winning 7 out of eight since 2007. His other CMA win was for Musical Event of the Year in 2009 with “Down The Road “ (Kenny Chesney with Mac McAnally).

In the real world there were sadly no nominations for the stars from the Nashville TV drama! So now’t for Rayna James (6 for 6 on the Tele!), Luke Wheeler, Juliette Barnes, Will Lexington, Sadie Stone or the Conrad Sisters!
