Billboard Top 200 / Country
Album Chart News (Chart issue week of
August 19, 2017)
The
Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes
traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent
albums (SEA).
Arcade Fire claims its third straight
No.1 album on the Billboard Top 200
Album Chart (BB200), as EVERYTHING NOW arrived atop the tally. The album,
which was released July 28 through Columbia Records, earned 100,000 equivalent
album units in the week ending Aug. 3, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum,
93,826 were in traditional album
sales.
Arcade
Fire previously led the chart with REFLEKTOR in 2013 and The Suburbs in 2010 --
both albums debuted at No. 1.
Everything
Now is just the second rock album to lead the Billboard 200 in 2017, following
Linkin Park’s One More Light (on the June 10-dated list).
Further,
Arcade Fire is now the second rock band this decade with three No.1s. Linkin
Park also has three leaders in the 2010s (of its six total toppers). Three
other groups and bands have also logged a three No.1s in 2010s: pop vocal
quintet-turned-quartet One Direction,
with four; country trio Lady Antebellum, with three (Golden, Own The Night, Need You Now); country group Zac Brown Band, with three (Jekyll + Hyde,
Uncaged, You Get What You Give)
Billboard Top Country
Albums (Chart issue week
of August 19, 2017)
Top
Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as
compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an
album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA)
“sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from
an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.

Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to
billboard biz ), exclusively comprising
Nielsen’s sales data.

Critical
reception for Joe
Nichols’ Never Gets Old:
12 Tracks/
Time: 40:02 Amazon UK - UK iTunes - Amazon.com
“This guy endures as one of the greatest
singers in contemporary country music.” - Music Row
“Joe
brings his flawless voice to this straight forward love song and the rest of
the album.” - One Country
Sounds Like Nashville (Rating: Positive) By mixing contemporary themes with traditional sounds, Joe Nichols
stays true to his roots upon the release of his ninth studio album. The project
is relatable and reflective as his smooth, baritone voice draws listeners in
and the story-telling lyrics keep them entertained….Best described as an
easy-listening album, Nichols relies on catchy melodies and familiar topics for
his latest project that long-time fans will find were worth the four-year wait.
.....Nichols reinvents the light-hearted song “Diamonds Makes Babies,”
co-written by Chris Stapleton, Jim Beavers and Lee Thomas Miller and previously
recorded by Dierks Bentley on his sixth studio album, Home. “Billy Graham’s
Bible” is also recognizable, as Nichols released that track on his most recent
2013 album, Crickets....Fans both new and old will distinguish the classic
sound and country radio will be delivered a new supply of fresh tracks that
their listeners are guaranteed to turn their volume dial up to.
