ABOUT Country Belles
Lucy Ellie Cooper – Country Belles Show #89 Interview Mixcloud |
As the name suggests Country Belles is one of the very few country music shows that exists playing FEMALE ONLY tracks, not a guy in site apart from the presenter!
Maybe
it’s a reaction to the male dominated America Country Airplay charts over the
last 5 years and more?!
When
Graham was persuaded to join Belter
Radio as a DJ he decided to make the format of his country show different
to an existing one - “It was about this
time when there was all that talk about female artists not getting airplay so
as I actually prefer female artists anyway regardless of genre I thought OK I
will play the girls”! he shares and confirms with Country Routes.
There is one other UK show presented by Carolann B (known as "Yorkshire's Very Own First Lady Of Country Music") who presents UKCountryRadio.com's Ladies Night (a 1-hour monthly show on the third Friday of each month) BUT that has an eye-candy feature playing a couple of favourite country guys!
Country Belles is exclusively
female Country/ Americana/ Singer-Songwriter acts.
In
his spare time Graham is a Darts League
Secretary and has a committee. You might say as far as Women Of Country music lovers go this show is right on target,
certainly hits the bullseye and is well worth a check out!
On June 17, 2017 Graham Barnes’ Country Belles celebrated the shows 2nd Birthday and to date 110 shows have been broadcast and published.
