Miley Cyrus, Pistol Annies attended ‘The Hunger Games’ premiere World premiere of "The Hunger Games" on Monday March 12, 2012 in Los Angeles
Hunger Games fans have been counting down the days until the movie, based on Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel, opens March 23. Hundreds even slept on the sidewalk outside the Nokia Theatre to mark the premiere. On Monday, the film's stars marched down the black-and-gold carpet in front of fans lucky enough to earn a spot in the limited viewing stands
Pistol hot: Pistol Annies -- the country supergroup of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley -- have a killer song on the film's soundtrack called "Run Daddy Run." It's fitting to have the group sing for a film with such a strong female character out front. "Combined, we are Katniss," said Lambert of the film's main character. "We're a girl band, all our music is about empowering women."
Even though Lambert completed an episode of Law & Order, she's not going to be acting anymore. "I only wanted to do Law & Order so I could get everyone to sign my script," she said. "I'm obsessed with that show. It was an intense part. I played a rape victim. But really, it was a dream come true. But will I do more? Probably not."

Interview Transcript:
Can you tell me a little about the song that you contributed to the soundtrack, the inspiration, the tonality all that?
Ashley - Angaleena had read the HUNGER GAMES and talked me and Miranda into reading it. We all fell in love with it and can all relate to it in diferent ways. Her [Angaleena] Daddy is a coal miners daughter, she's [Miranda] a bow hunter as Katniss was, and my Dad died at an early age. I kind of took care of my Mum so we were all inspired by the book and by Katniss. There's a part in the book where she says yelling for her Daddy - "Run, Daddy,Run"away from the mine, so that's the title of the song that Angaleena had. Gosh, September of last year we were all on the bus one day and said - "let's write this". We were so inspired by the book and the story that it told, so we wrote it and forced our way onto the soundtrack. It was our goal!
Miranda - We didn't like get the call or anything for the movie. We didn't even know, we actually just wrote the song. we were very inspired and and kind of begged our way through. T Bone [Burnett] loved it and produced our song called 'Run Daddy Run'. We are all so proud, we haven't seen the movie at all yet so were excited
Did you guys go through T Bone to get on the soundtrack?
Miranda - we did, were a relatively new band and so we didn't have like a lot of credibility to stand on but I think the song tells alot about the story about the book and I feel people can really relate it, so its very genuine.
What does it mean to you guys as a group to be involved in such a high profile project?
Miranda - HUGE! Especially for an unknown girl band were like - Yes we made a....WHOOP
Angaleena - I'm so proud to be a part of this project. Its created so many new readers and illeracy abounds, I love it!
Miranda - She's a nerd [SCHS Bookclub, nerd Annie]
Angaleena - I'm the nerd of the group I can't help it (laughs)
Ashley related they were sitting on the bus on her birthday Sept 10, 2011 - “We had just finished taking a nap and Angalenna had the title "Run Daddy Runn". We went from the nap and I heard a verse in my head and I heard all this words so I said -"Girls let's just write this" - We wrote it in about 30 minutes and recorded it and sent it off to them “.
Angaleena - "They got 200 people in my little hometown to read the book and I'm so proud of them. These are people who haven't read before. This book is inspiring, its amazing the whole series"

"Daddy, can you hear the devil drawing near? / Like a bullet from a gun / Run, Daddy, run," the desperate tune begins, as the singers call for a lost parent. The film's main character, Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, could likely relate to the track, since when the story starts, she's supporting her mother and little sister, Primrose, following her father's death.
'The Hunger Games' is set in a post-apocalyptic world where teens fight to the death in an annual event aired on live television. Katniss comes to the forefront of the dystopian Olympics when Primrose is selected to participate. The elder Everdeen volunteers to fight in her place.
