Feisty female duo with sweet and husky voices harmonise distinctively in their stirring songs on living, loving and losing. Influenced by the likes of Joni, Janis and Emmylou, they write stories in the folk tradition and play them with a rock passion and country twang.

In
their words:
‘This
Aint Your Fight’ is our favourite
track from upcoming EP Routes. It’s a country/blues song written as if trying
to inspire a woman to escape an abusive partner, but hopefully it can apply and
help to give anyone in an unhappy relationship some strength. We hope you’ll
enjoy it if you like soulful female led folk, Americana or singer songwriter
music from artists like First Aid Kit and Tegan and Sara.
Waiting For Wednesday have played hundreds of gigs across their native Yorkshire on their seven year journey together; captivating crowds at local festivals Saltaire and Beat-Herder, venues Oporto and Belgrave of Leeds and the Hebden Bridge Trades Club - all the way to the bars of Ireland including the famous Matt Molloy’s. An early On’t Sofa session introduced them to a wider audience on Youtube, and they continue to receive support from BBC Introducing for songs on their self-released records the 9 track Indie/Alt set GIRLS DON’T PLAY GUITAR (Released 21 March 2014 Amazon UK), the 7-tracker ‘WHEN WE WERE SEVENTEEN’ (released 15 Aug 2015 Amazon UK) and the forthcoming ‘ROUTES’ EP (Out March 9th).

On Routes, Laura Shackleton explains “this is our first set of recordings since taking a break to have children, but these are actually some of our oldest songs. We once again enlisted some friends to help flesh them out with full band arrangements, so love the fact the tracks reflect both our roots as a song writing duo and the new direction we’re heading in”.
As a pair, they’ve already shared stages with a range of acclaimed singer songwriters including Billie Marten, JP Cooper and the Lost Brothers, as well as experienced playing support to folk legends like Fotheringay, We Banjo 3 and Mozaik to large new crowds. Now with a rehearsed full band lineup at the ready, alongside their tested acoustic guitar and vocal harmony partnership, Waiting For Wednesday are looking to introduce themselves to as many fans of soulful country, blues and Americana as possible in 2018.
