London based Liverpudlian Hannah Rose Platt has released ‘Sorry’, a song based on tough, personal experiences for Hannah.
The track is a standalone
digital track that dropped March 5th to coincide with the week of International Women's Day to raise
awareness money for Women's Aid.
She shares: It's a very personal song (unlike my usual
story songs) and the aim of sharing the single and experiences is to raise
awareness of domestic in it's many forms, and to raise funds for Women's Aid, a
cause and a charity very close to my heart”.
The song was written by Hannah,
and the track was co-produced by AMAUK Instrumentalist of the Year Award Winner
Thomas Collison.

On her Facebook page Hannah
shares: This song is written directly from my personal experiences with several
different people. I was extremely nervous about releasing it and sharing the
experiences I have either blamed myself for, tried to block-out, reason or
explain away over the years. After advice from my close, trusted circle of
strong women and wonderfully supportive men, it was clear this is a song which, sadly, many people will relate to and that it
should be shared. I hope that it may play some small part in reducing the
stigma surrounding these issues.
All proceeds from downloads and streams of ‘Sorry’ will be
donated to Women’s Aid. You can also donate directly to support their
incredible and vital work here: https://www.womensaid.org.uk/donate/
It’s also important to note that whilst I am speaking here about
my own experiences as a woman, and statistically women are more likely to
experience sexual violence and domestic abuse, these are issues that can also
affect men. Women’s Aid provide information on where male survivors can go for
support, and the National Domestic Violence Helpline offers support to both men
and women.

Hannah Rose Platt is an enchanting
singer-songwriter, talented storyteller and guitarist.
Born
and raised in Liverpool, Hannah began playing the guitar when she was five,
teaching herself how to play. Her musical education came from her stepfather
who would encourage her to listen to a wide variety of music, scouring his
extensive record collection for inspiration for her
Her
melodic, poetic and accessible music offers self-written narratives to ordinary
people who had no one to unfurl their stories; tales of luck, stoicism,
loneliness, love, heartbreak and hope. While avoiding clichés, she warmly
builds characters like an author, penning songs that almost eavesdrop on other
people’s lives.
The
5 track EP 1954... AND OTHER STORIES
(Bonus Track Version) dropped Aug 27, 2013 (Amazon UK – UK iTunes).
Title
cut 1954
(featured in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks several times) is told through the
eyes of an elderly woman suffering from dementia who waits every night for her
husband to pick her up as she recalls their first date, while Birthday Card is
a tender letter from a mother written to her daughter from prison.
Lyrics
are the mainstay of her work, while subtle acoustic arrangements and beautiful
guitar hooks form an uplifting backdrop. Hannah’s stories get under your
skin…she plays with sentiment without being saccharine, focusing on optimism
infused with realism and honesty.
She
recorded her 12-track debut album
PORTRAITS in Nashville (produced by herself and Michael Bonagura) where she
worked with some of the industry’s leading names including Grammy award-winning

“Every song on the album is a miniature
picture, a thumbnail sketch frozen in time. There's almost a sense of 'Pictures
in an Exhibition' as successive tracks pass in front of you; each one having
its own characters and its own story to tell…This is a remarkable debut album.
Hannah is an artist who really knows what she is doing and where she is going.
She's going to the top.” - Fatea Magazine
