I don't matter if you're wrong or right, no
So it goes but I hold on the hope and I won't let go cause

I, I believe you and me are sisters and brothers and
I, I believe we're made to be here for each other
And we'll never fall if we walk hand in hand
Put a world that seems broken together again yeah
I, I believe in the end love wins

Sometimes it takes a lot of faith
to keep believing that will come a day
when the tears and the sadness,
the pain and the hate
the struggle, this madness will all fade away

I, I believe you and me are sisters and brothers and
I, I believe we're made to be here for each other
And we'll never fall if we walk hand in hand
Put a world that seems broken together again yeah
I, I believe in the end love wins

On the genre-less track with gospel-pop overtones, Underwood demonstrates she's not afraid to address bigger issues in the new song. She touches on the "politics and prejudice" of a divided culture before delivering the powerful chorus, which rings with a message of bringing people together.
“Politics and prejudice, how the hell’d it ever come to this / when everybody’s gotta pick a side / it don’t matter if you’re wrong or right,” go the lyrics, written by Underwood with Brett James and the album’s producer David Garcia.

Rollingstone wrote: “Love Wins” is one of two songs on Cry Pretty that nod to political issues — “The Bullet” is a commentary on gun violence. “Love Wins,” especially in its title, also underscores Underwood’s support of gay marriage. In 2012, the singer told the British newspaper The Independent, “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.”
