americana-uk.com in their review stated: The set is undoubtedly a departure from Red Sky July’s previous work as they rediscover themes they may have briefly touched on before and explore new ones, too. With “Misty Morning,” they have delved deeply into folk. They have explored the beauty of nature, love, relationships, and loss. It is a coherent collection of songs that will delight the listener. 8/10

(4 April 2025) Fresh from her European tour, powerhouse artist Emilia Quinn is keeping the momentum high with the announcement of her second single of the year! Following the success of ‘High On Life,’ Emilia is set to release another hard-hitting track from her upcoming album DENTED HALOS—the emotionally charged anthem, ‘Does She Know,’ dropped on April 4th, 2025.
Described as “A hauntingly raw and powerful ballad”, Does She Know delves into the turmoil of being the other woman, inspired by the psychological thriller Behind Her Eyes. As she penned the song, Emilia fully immersed herself in the protagonist’s perspective, delivering a gut-wrenching narrative of guilt, betrayal, and heartbreak.
I took the idea of being the other woman questioning the lover, lamenting on her role in betraying her friend, and ran with it as a theme,” Emilia explained. “I wanted to demonstrate her pain and create an alternative perspective in the genre of cheating songs.”
The presser describes the single: With captivating melodies, emotionally charged lyricism, and Emilia’s signature gritty vocals, Does She Know is set to leave a lasting impact on listeners, cementing her reputation as a compelling voice in the Americana and Blues/Rock scenes.  TESTDRIVE the song HERE

UK Albums
28 March 2025 – 3 April 2025
In a showdown between two stylistically dissimilar British bands who came to prominence in the 2000s, The Darkness’ dreams of securing their first No.1 album for 22 years are toast, but Mumford & Sons are back on top for the first time in a decade, with folk rock trumping hard/glam rock.
Mumford & Sons’ fifth regular studio album in total, and their first since slimming down to a trio in 2021, Rushmere – named after a pond on Wimbledon Common where the band was formed – is their third No.1, following 2012’s Babel and 2015’s Wilder Mind, and debuts atop the chart on first week consumption of 35,655 units (18,124 CDs, 7,413 vinyl albums, 6,043 cassettes, 1,192 digital downloads and 2,883 sales-equivalent streams).

UK Singles
4 April 2025 – 10 April 2025
While its nearest challengers idle, Ordinary sprints to a third week at No.1 for Alex Warren, with consumption soaring a further 14.68% week-on-week to 71,522 units (2,100 digital downloads and 69,422 sales-equivalent streams) – the highest for a No.1 song so far this year, and the highest by a contemporary hit (ie: not a Christmas oldie) in 40 weeks.
Chappell Roan with her country track “The Giver” fell 5-8 in her third frame
In his 49th chart frame Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) fell 42-45
Dasha with “Austin” climbed 73-67 in her 55th chart frame
Post Malone “I Had Some Help” (feat. Morgan Wallen) rose 74-72 in their 45th frame.

Billboard 200 News
Ariana Grande’s 2024 album ETERNAL SUNSHINE returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart for its third total week atop the list, flying 87-1 on the April 12-dated chart, following the set’s deluxe reissue, dubbed Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead. Bolstered with six previously unreleased songs, the expanded effort — available at streamers, and to purchase as a download, CD and vinyl LP — earned 137,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending April 3 (up 968%), according to Luminate.

Morgan Wallen’s ONE THING AT A TIME was stationary at No.10 (almost 45,000; down 2%).

Billboard Hot 100 News
Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” topped the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for a seventh total and consecutive week. The single, whose title shouts out late R&B crooner Luther Vandross, who is sampled on the track, became Lamar’s sixth No. 1 and SZA’s third. Lamar and SZA each extend their longest career Hot 100 reigns with the song.

Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” slipped 3-4 on the Hot 100, following its record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1 beginning last July. It adds a milestone 40th week atop the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart (where only one hit has led longer: Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be”: 50 weeks in 2017-18).

Morgan Wallen boasted two songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, back-to-back: “Just in Case” dropped to No.8 a week after it debuted at No.4 and “I’m the Problem” lifted 11-9, after it launched at its No. 2 best in February.

Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart News
LOCASH lead the Billboard’s Country Airplay chart (dated April12) for the first time since 2016 as “Hometown Home” (BMG/Galaxy Label Group) ascended 2-1. The song increased by 10% to 30.1 million audience impressions March 28-April 3, according to Luminate. The duo — Preston Brust and Chris Lucas — co-authored the song with Zach Abend and Andy Albert. Jacob Rice produced it. In early 2024, LOCASH originated Galaxy Label Group in partnership with Studio2Bee Entertainment, founded by veteran Nashville music executives Skip Bishop and Butch Waugh. “Seeing ‘Hometown Home’ sitting at the top of the Billboard chart has been amazing in ways we couldn’t imagine,” Brust and Lucas said in a joint statement. “It’s our first No. 1 since we went all in and bet on ourselves and launched our own record label. We get to appreciate this hit on so many levels: as writers, artists and as record-label executives. This song is so special. It’s been epic watching it land on people’s hearts. It just feels different bringing this one ‘home.’ ”
LOCASH previously topped Country Airplay when “I Know Somebody” led for one week in October 2016. The tandem establishes the longest break between No. 1s — eight years, six months and two weeks — since David Lee Murphy went 22-plus years between leaders from 1995 to 2018.

MUSIC NEWS
Music industry consultancy Midia Research has published its latest estimates of global music subscribers, covering the fourth quarter of 2024.  The most interesting finding is that 78.4% of new subscribers to music-streaming services now come from outside North America and Europe, showing the growing importance of ‘high-potential’ markets to the music industry.  Midia noted that North America and Europe combined now account for 41% of total (not just new) subscribers globally. That’s been falling steadily over the past decade: from 62% in 2015 and 52.3% in 2020. “Although label streaming revenues are slowing, the global music subscriber market continues to grow at pace, adding nearly the same number of subscribers as in 2023,” said Midia Research MD Mark Mulligan in a statement.

Amazon has submitted a bid to acquire all of TikTok, according to a new report from The New York Times. The last-minute bid comes as TikTok faces an April 5 deadline to shed its Chinese ownership or face a ban in the U.S. However, the parties involved in the deal talks do not appear to be taking Amazon’s bid seriously, according to The Times’ report.  President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with officials to discuss the app’s fate on Wednesday. Trump said earlier this week that a deal with TikTok’s parent company ByteDance to sell the app will be finalized before the April 5 deadline.

(6 April 2025) While some recent industry statistics show a slowdown in the U.S. streaming market, spending remains quite healthy, according to new figures from market research firm MusicWatch. Most notably, 50 million more Americans bought recorded music in 2024 than a decade earlier. Products included in that count are on-demand music subscriptions, paid internet radio subscriptions, physical formats such as CDs and LPs, and digital downloads. Some of that increase can be attributed to population growth over the last 10 years. The total U.S. population — including people under 13 and non-internet users who are typically not counted in market research surveys — grew by roughly 19million over that period. But since the number of music buyers far outstripped population growth, most of the increase came from a greater interest in music products

(4 April 2025) Elton John and Brandi Carlile release their acclaimed collaborative studio album Who Believes In Angels? (Tagged ROCK), out now via Island EMI Records. Listen here

The highly anticipated album comes the week after Elton and Brandi debuted several tracks live during a magical evening of music and conversation at
The London Palladium. The show, which received widespread 5* reviews from critics, will air on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player on Saturday 19th April and on CBS on Sunday 6th April.

One of the tracks debuted live was album focus track ‘Little Richard’s Bible. A meditation on the rock and roll legend’s  journey from outrageous gay rock star to devout Christian gospel singer and back again, set to frantic piano, a blasting brass riff and a bassline inspired by T Rex, ’Little Richard’s Bible’ turned out to be the key to an extraordinary album.

Speaking on the track Elton says: “I played ’Little Richard’s Bible’ just accompanied by Chad Smith hitting the hi-hat. Then Andrew put the band on it. When I heard it, I thought ‘God Almighty, this is incredible.’ The frost melted. It was a breakthrough: it had so much energy, and it was exactly the energy I wanted. I suddenly thought ‘yeah, this album’s going to be great.’”
