KATY
HURT ANNOUNCES SINGLE "BEFORE THE ICE MELTS" AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM
RELEASE
Country/Americana
artist Katy Hurt is closing out the rollout of her hotly anticipated
debut album with one more single. "Before The Ice Melts"
arrived on April 18th, marking the eighth and final single from her upcoming
record, “GIMME A BREAK”, which drops May 23rd.
“Saved
the best for last” Hurt teases. Co-written with longtime collaborator Gab
Zsapka and produced by Murray Pulver (The Bros. Landreth, Doc Walker). The
track is about holding on to something broken just a little longer to delay the
inevitable heartbreak and is a confession of weakness, choosing familiar bad
habits over closure. Once again, showcasing Hurt’s signature blend of
atmospheric Americana and lyrical vulnerability.
Recorded
at Stereobus Recording in Winnipeg, “Before The Ice Melts” serves as a poignant
final chapter before the full story of Gimme A Break is revealed - a project
years in the making that has already earned Katy critical acclaim and a
dedicated fanbase across the UK and beyond.
Fresh
off the soul stirring Seasons collaboration with Joey Landreth in
January and the empowering March release of Rather Be, Katy has been
taking 2025 by storm and clearly has no plans to slow down.
For
fans of Lady A and Sheryl Crow, “Before The Ice Melts” delivers an unmistakable
edge that continues to cement Katy’s place as one of the most exciting upcoming
voices in modern country.

and Patsy Cline.

a reputation as one of the most exciting voices in UK country, releasing a

standout singles like "Sounds Good In A Bar" and "Wish I Could
Give You Up", both of which hit Number 1 on the UK iTunes charts upon
release and earned radio play on CBC, Sirius XM, KIX Australia, and Amazon
Music playlists.
Katy’s upcoming debut album, produced by

have continued to gain recognition, with her single “Face to Face”
featured in the 2024 movie "Slingshot" starring Casey Affleck and
Laurence Fishburne.
Recent Endorsements/Press Quotes - Listen
With Monger - UK country princess Katy Hurt is back with
her new single 'Rather Be' and it's a bone rattling wagon ride without a doubt.
Hurt's vocals sound imported from Nashville while the clattering percussion and
twanging strings transport you to a ranch porch somewhere in the searing heat
of the Midwest. This is a defiant song about kicking Keith the curb or giving
Evan the elbow which, if there's any justice, will become an anthem of
independence for female country fans the world over. Altogether now "I'd
really rather not be yours!".
