There are seven awards:
UK Country Artist Of The Year
UK Country Album Of The Year
UK Female Country Singer Of The Year
UK Male Country Singer Of The Year
UK Country Duo Of The Year
UK Country Group Of The Year
The Listeners' Club Song Award.
Online voting was open to everyone, to determine the finalists in each category took
place between February and May.
Voting closed midnight on Sunday
14th May.
Based on the number of votes, five finalists were identified in each
category, with the exception of the UK
Country Artist Of The Year category in which ten finalists were identified.
The Listeners' Club Song Award is for a song by a UK country artist or writer,
promoted through UKCountryRadio.com last year. In this category only each vote on the night will be added to
those received in the first round of online voting to determine the winner.
The Winners will be announced at UKCountryRadio.com's 10th Birthday Party and UK Country Music Awards on Saturday September
2, 2017.
There are 24 Finalists across the seven Award categories.
They include Angela Paterson, Angels with Dirty Faces, Backwoods Creek, December,
Devon Mayson, Dexeter, Gary Perkins and
The Breeze, Gary Quinn, Holloway Road, Memphis Belle, Raintown,
Scott Welsby, The Shires, Tom Fairnie
and Ward Thomas.
Orfila, Penny Jayne Black, Thorne Hill, Wayne Jacobs
and Zenne lead the list as Finalists
with three nominations each.
They are each Finalists for our
prestigious UK Country Artist Of The Year Award, alongside Chloe Chadwick,
Devon Mayson, Jade Helliwell, Lily Garland and Robbie Cavanagh.
Glasgow duo Raintown (Paul Bain and Claire McArthur Bain) who were big winners in 2016 snagging the significant UK Country Artist
Of The Year and UK Country Album Of The Year in 2016 receive one nomination
in 2017 for UK Country Duo Of The Year and are up against tough competition: Holloway Road (crowned last years
winners), Memphis Belle, The Shires (Biggest selling UK country
album) and Ward Thomas (Official UK
#1 album for CARTWHEELS).
Who are Memphis Belle? They are a Cardigan, Ceredigion based country duo
comprising Michael Harrison and Michelle Phillips Find them on Facebook (366

Zenne (Website | Facebook | UKCR Artist Page) described as one of the hardest working and the
Honky-Tonkyest gal in UK won the Female
Country Singer Of The Year award in
2016. She will hope to retain the title and has drawn 2017 nods
for both the UKCountryRadio.com Listeners' Club Song Award and Artist
of the Year.
Thorne Hill was crowned ‘UK Male Country Singer Of The
Year’ in 2016 and is again a leading contender in the category
with two other nods having an outside chance of bagging UK Album Of the Year (NO MORE HOLDING BACK) up against BPI
UK GOLD & SILVER certified albums from The
Shires (MY UNIVERSE) & Ward
Thomas (CARTWHEELS; Official UK #1 Album). Thorne is also in the mix for UK Artist of the Year.
UNSTOPPABLE?
Wayne
Jacobs won UKCountryRadio.com Listeners Club Song Award for the fifth consecutive year in
September 2016 thanks to his 11,000 loyal fans. Wayne as the writer of “Stars & Stripes Of Freedom”
(performed by Ronnie Kimball) is again nominated for the sixth successive year.
Thanks to online voting prior to
the final round of the 2016 votes it was probably already done and dusted
assisted by his social media team posting on Facebook groups and his Wild Horse
Promotions family.
Wayne won the UKCountryRadio.com
2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015, 2016 Listeners Club Song Award with his country
songs called “Kentucky Whiskey” “I Want My Daddy”, “In Cold
Blood”, “May We Never Forget” and “Paws of War”.
All Wayne’s Award winning songs he
writes are produced by Dana Jordan from Blue Room Studios, Justin Morgan and
Tom Manche. Wayne does not sing on the recorded tracks. His 2017 entry, Wayne
Jacobs (writer) is titled "Stars & Stripes Of Freedom"
(performed by Ronnie Kimball).
Surprisingly Jacobs is nominated for UK Country Male Singer of The Year?!
He talked about his inspirations for penning songs and revealed that the BBC emailed and phoned him when The Voice UK were looking for country singers! Wayne was a UKCountryRadio.com reigning champ failed to get through to part B on the auditions out of apparently 1000’s. Jacobs workin’ his way up the country ladder had taken voice lessons (probably to perfect the American twang), in order to match the lyrics and please his American friends. Wayne performed his BBC audition song "Bless the Broken Road" a big hit for Rascal Flatts. Wayne said the song brought out his “Buddy Holly range”.
