We’re not leaving Country Music behind, we’re taking “real” country music with us.
The Ameripolitan Music Awards were created to benefit and acknowledge artists whose work does not readily conform to the tastes of today’s “country” or other music genres and organizations. It also provides fans with a means of finding these artists and their music.
Ameripolitan MISSION Statement – This thought provoking word is intended to be an invitation to discuss the future of the music that is important to so many of us. By leaving the hopelessly compromised word “country” behind and exclusively using the term “Ameripolitan”, our intention is to reestablish this music’s own unique identity, elevate its significance and help reinvigorate it creatively. Also, because of our place in history, we have the privilege and responsibility to pass a great musical tradition on to future generations who will otherwise have no direct connection to this music. (Jan 2018) Up Country magazine due to the ever increasing costs, especially with the postage (which, over the last two years they have only just managed to absorb) have made the decision to combine Up Country with their sister magazine Cross Country. This will happen from the February 2018 issue.
They share: It will mean a lot of hard work for us in the coming weeks as we continue to plan a total redesign of both magazines with the size being a little smaller than Up Country as it is now and slightly larger in format than Cross Country. We feel that this is the best way forward for everyone and it will bring the whole of the Country music scene together under one umbrella and hopefully double our readership for both magazines.
The ‘new’ magazine will be published every month with no double issues. There will still be dances printed each month.

UK CHART NEWS

Official UK Top 100 Singles Chart (Week Ending 18 January 2018)
12 January 2018 - 18 January 2018
Parent album ÷ is no longer No.1 – but Perfect, the fourth single from the set, spent its sixth straight week atop the singles chart for Ed Sheeran.
Eclipsing Camila Cabello's five-week topper, Havana, Perfect became the longest reigning No.1 since Despacito spent six weeks at No.1 for Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber last May/June.
Including sales and streams of Sheeran's original album version and duet versions with Beyonce and Andrea Bocelli, Perfect had a combined tally of 49,550 sales (including 34,319 from sales-equivalent streams) in the week, the smallest of its reign. Sales of Sheeran's River collaboration with Eminem are falling at a slower rate, and the track spends its third week at No.2 in total and its second in a row, on sales of 41,440 copies.

The soundtrack album to the current hit film about Barnum & Bailey Circus king P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman includes contributions from the film's stars Zac Efron, Hugh Jackman, Keala Settle, Zendaya, Michelle Williams and from Loren Allred, who is not in the film but provides the vocals for the character Jenny Lind.

Surrounded by his musical heroes, deep in the box canyon of the Colorado mountain town, the course was set for the creative process of Bentley’s ninth studio album, THE MOUNTAIN (Capitol Records Nashville), which will be released in early 2018.
The writing process came together quickly when Bentley returned to Telluride a short time later for a retreat with fellow songwriters Natalie Hemby, Luke Dick, Ross Copperman, Jon Randall, Jon Nite and Ashley Gorley. The bulk of the album’s songs, including the title track were written during that week, which Bentley describes as the most inspiring creative experience he’s ever had.

COUNTRY GOSSIP
(9 Jan 2018) Newlywed country stars Kelsea Ballerini and Morgan Evans almost lost a collection of their honeymoon photos after Morgan dropped his cell phone into the ocean.
The couple wed in a beach ceremony in Mexico in early December (17) and jetted to Bora Bora to kick off 2018, with both singers documenting their romantic vacation on social media.
However, they suffered a panic on Sunday (07Jan18) after Morgan lost his grip on his iPhone as he filmed Kelsea facing her fear of the ocean by jumping in.
Kelsea posted the video on Instagram, in which Morgan appeared to be capturing the daring pier leap while paddling in the water.
After her successful jump, the camera, which was still recording, suddenly plunged into the ocean, before they were able to rescue the phone."I'm scared of the ocean. I jumped. He filmed," she captioned the clip. "Then this amazing #fail was caught on camera."
Luckily for the pair, the iPhone emerged undamaged: "Somehow, no iPhone was harmed in the making," she added, alongside the hashtag, "#10ftunder".
It was the first of two close calls the couple experienced on Sunday.
In a message on Twitter, Kelsea later told fans, "Jumped in the water today like a big kid and told myself there wasn't anything scary because it was too shallow and I KID YOU NOT we go to look at the fish a few hours later in the same spot and there is a SHARK CIRCLING THE HUT. GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD I CANNOT GO ON. #sharknado".

(10 Jan 2018) Wendy Williams Suggests Carrie Underwood Had Facelift, Not Injury
Carrie Underwood underwent surgery after an accident in November (in which she fell down some steps at her Nashville-area home) and recently noted that her face might be a bit altered due to multiple stitches as a result. However, some — most publicly, talk show host Wendy Williamsspeculated that she is using this as an excuse to cover up cosmetic surgery. Williams posted a video Jan. 8 in which she discussed a variety of "hot topic" current events, including Underwood's accident (at 10mins >> YouTube).
"I really don't know a whole bunch about it," the host says in the clip regarding the incident. “She allegedly fell down a bunch of steps at her house, broke her wrist. She released on Twitter that we may not recognize her when it’s all said and done."

(11 Jan 2018) A song Ed Sheeran co-wrote for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw is the subject of the latest copyright infringement lawsuit.
The superstar pair released the tune The Rest of Our Life last October (2017), with British singing sensation Ed credited as co-writer. However, Australian pair Sean Carey and Beau Golden filed a complaint in New York federal court on Wednesday (10Jan18), saying that the song is "blatant copying" of their own 2014 tune "When I Found You". "The copying is, in many instances, verbatim, note-for-note copying of original elements of the Song, and is obvious to the ordinary observer," the complaint states.
When I Found You was initially released in Australia by co-writer and recording artist Jasmine Rae. In the complaint, Busch also points out that Rae is in a relationship with Sony marketing manager Tim Holland, who was tasked with promoting the McGraw/Hill song.
The songwriters are seeking at least $5 million in damages plus profits, a running royalty and attorney’s fees and costs. To see the full complaint, head to HollywoodReporter.com.
This time, Sheeran is named in the lawsuit alongside co-writers Johnny McDaid and Amy Wadge, as well as Sony/ATV, Universal Polygram and WB Music. The complaint also claims that Sony Music employees were well aware of the copying of "When I Found You".
