The
Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes
traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent
albums (SEA).
For
the third week in a row, Post Malone’s
beerbongs & bentleys sat atop the Billboard
Top 200 Album Chart dated May 26, as the album earned 147,000 equivalent album units (18,087 pure sales) in the week
ending May 17 (down 24 percent), according to Nielsen Music.
The
set is only the second album to notch three total weeks at No. 1 in 2018
(following Black Panther: The Album, which logged its three frames on top
non-consecutively) and scores the longest streak at No. 1 since Taylor Swift’s
reputation linked together three consecutive weeks at No. 1 (Dec. 2-16, 2017)
of its four total non-consecutive No. 1 frames.
Top
Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as
compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an
album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA)
“sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from
an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.
Nielsen
Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to
billboard biz ), exclusively comprising
Nielsen’s sales data.

Brent Cobb with his 11 track album PROVIDENCE
CANYON (Low Country Sound/Elektra Records | Amazon UK - UK iTunes - Amazon.com) made a debut at #69 on Top 200 Music Sales
and a #2 bow on Heatseeker
Albums selling 2,447 copies.
Following
his 2016 major label debut, SHINE ON RAINY DAY, Cobb’s third studio album was
recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A and produced by his cousin, Dave Cobb. It
features 11 songs, including “Come Home Soon,” “Mornin’s Gonna Come,” “King of
Alabama” and “Ain’t A Road Too Long.”
Critical reception
AllMusic (Rating: 4.1/2 STARS) ..With Brent, Dave has a singer/songwriter who
is sly, well-versed in the history of country and funky Americana, who places
equal emphasis on the song and the performance. As a result, Providence Canyon
is fleet on its feet but also substantial: it’s a record that can be enjoyed as
a vibe, as a sharp musical interplay and as a set of song that are malleable
yet enduring.
The Independent (UK) (Rating: 4 STARS) ....Providence Canyon is more muscular than its
predecessor and, for the most part, a heck of a lot of fun: an 11-song LP
recorded in Nashville with Cobb’s Grammy-winning producer/cousin Dave Cobb.

Bebe
Rexha and Florida Georgia Line with
"Meant to Be" led Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart
(dated May 26) for a 25th week, rewriting FGL's personal best.
"Cruise," the debut hit for the duo -- consisting of Tyler Hubbard
and Brian Kelley -- led for 24 weeks in 2012-13.
The 25-week reign for "Meant" is the longest
for a song by a duo or group in the Hot Country Songs chart's 59-year
history, and the second-longest overall. Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back
Road" holds the record, with 34 weeks at No. 1 in 2017.
"From day one, this song has been such a fun,
unexpected surprise," Hubbard told Billboard. "Essentially, I've got
to give my wife Hayley the credit here. Before I went in to write ['Meant']
with Bebe [and Josh Miller and David Garcia], Hayley said to me, 'if it's meant
to be…,' and the rest is history. BK [Brian Kelley] and I get inspired by
everything in our lives and we're blessed to have these amazing women in our
lives."
"To think that Tyler and I first started writing
songs on the back of a tailgate … to see the kind of reach these songs can have
is really humbling," Kelley says. "It's something that's bigger than
us, bigger than FGL and we are so grateful to be on this ride."
As it racks up its 25th frame atop Hot Country Songs,
which blends airplay, sales and streaming data, "Meant" ruled Country
Streaming Songs for a 21st week (20.5 million U.S. streams, according to
Nielsen Music). On Country Digital Song Sales, which it led for 19 weeks, it
holds at No. 2 (25,000 downloads sold).
On Country Airplay -- which "Meant" topped on
April 28 -- the song ranks in the top 10 for an 11th week, descending 5-8 (28.9
million in audience).
On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, "Meant"
peaked at No. 2 for three weeks (beginning March 31), becoming the
highest-charting hit for a country duo or group since Lady Antebellum's
"Need You Now" in 2010 (and the highest-peaking for FGL;
"Cruise" reached No. 4 in 2013).
Darius
Rucker with “For the First Time” (Capitol
Nashville) rose 11-10 on Hot Country
Songs to become his 10th top 10. It gained by 5 percent to 39.2 million
in audience, bumping 4-3 on Country Airplay.
Rucker first reached the chart’s top 10 with his debut
entry in the country genre, “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” after logging
pop hits for over a decade as Hootie & The Blowfish’s frontman. It topped
Hot Country Songs for two weeks starting Oct. 4, 2008.
