COUNTRY ALBUM & SINGLES RELEASES

(17 Sept 2018) Ed Bruce - Girls, Women & Ladies: The Universal Recordings
Alan Cackett is delighted to announce the release of ED BRUCE’s Girls, Women & Ladies: The Universal Recordings, a 3-CD set on HumpHead Records (HUMP 222). Cackett started work on this release some five years ago. He specifically wanted to include all of Ed’s recordings that he made for United Artists Records in the mid-1970s, alongside his later (and more successful) MCA Recordings of the early 1980s. Initially Universal Music Group (that now owns all those recordings) informed us that they couldn’t find any of the UA recordings and didn’t actually own them. I persevered, and eventually they admitted they did indeed own them. Finally, after many delays, they managed to locate almost all of the recordings and on September 17 the 3-CD set will be available in the record shops or via Amazon and www.humpheadcountry

(19 Sept 2018) Britt Hill - Play It By Beer (Single; 2018 Brittany Hill)
Time: 2:57 Amazon UK - UK iTunes
Today's pop country meets old school country vocals
It's never easy trying to plant roots as a country singer in Boston, but Brittany Hill seems to be making a statement. Growing up with a passion for music, Britt participated in many choirs and theatre productions in and outside of high school, but her first love was always country music. A member of New England to Nashville, she preformed in the show "Country Girls in the City" and the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston. Digging her heels in deeper she's in the process of working on her first EP. She is currently songwriting, singing and studying hard at Berklee. https://www.facebook.com/britthillmusic/  (266 Likes)

(21 Sept 2018) Kristina Murray - Southern Ambrosia (Loud Magnolia Records)
9 Tracks/Time: 35:38 Amazon UK - UK iTunes - Amazon.com (CMP Sept 2018 4 STAR)
Debut #18 UK Country iTunes Album Chart (#643 UK iTunes all-genres)

Georgia-bred, Nashville-based songwriter Kristina Murray plays Americana and country music rooted and steeped in troubadour storytelling, southern-rock grit and the footsteps of country queens of yesteryear. Kristina’s songwriting springs from a deep and personal desire to share her truth, her opinions and convictions, and the simple joys and tragedies of life. Her songs adhere to the adage “write what you know,” and her delivery is as fluid, rhythmic, and steady as her right hand on her 1963 J-45, a beloved companion whom she endearingly calls Lil’ Sister in a nod to an early musical hero, one Elvis Aaron Presley. >> EPK
With producer Michael Rinne, known for his outstanding work with Caroline Spence, Kelsey Waldon and Erin Rae, among others, Murray makes smart, albeit devastating, observations about our world in an enveloping warmth. Even when she sings on how “life hits you hard” with the cigarette burn that is “Pink Azaleas,” an aching charmer worming its way through her childhood and thumping against the ravages of adulthood, there is a frothy smoothness that perks the senses. “Tell Me” waltzes across the ballroom floor in a yesteryear gleam, and “Lovers and Liars,” ignited from the inside out with decorative but apt harmonica work (thanks to Pat Bergeson), hobbles over the desert’s surface in a boot-scootin’ line dance. Peppered throughout, the records boasts quite a lineup of talented musicians - Kris Donegan (electric/slide guitar), Justin Schipper (pedal steel/slide guitars/dobro), Ian Fitchuk (piano/keys), Michael Rinne (bass), Fred Eltringham (drums/percussion), John Mailander (fiddle) and Rob McNelley (slide guitar) - a pedigree which always the album to pulsate in dizzying fits. - bsidesbadlands.com

10 Tracks/Time: 38:01 Alt-Country & Americana Amazon UK - UK iTunes - Amazon.com
Debut #61 UK Country iTunes Album Chart
Amy Helm sought what she calls a “circular sound” for her new album. It’s a well-rounded one, one marked by streaks of Americana, country, blues, and gospel, and the kinds of four-part harmonies that can burst open a melody and close the loop of an octave. And sentimentally, it’s a sound that represents the feeling of community.
'This Too Shall Light', comprises 10 songs produced by Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Joe Henry. Helm left her home and comfort zone of Woodstock, NY, choosing to record in Los Angeles within the confines of just a four-day window.

As a teenager, Cindy started out playing folk and bluegrass music in the northern-most reaches of Appalachia .... the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania.  She began to play guitar at the urging of her father, a fiddler who took his daughter to jam sessions and introduced her to local musicians. Songwriting came naturally and crafting her own songs quickly became part of Cindy’s journey. In her 20’s, Cindy moved to New York City and enjoyed success as a touring artist in blues and rock, but eventually her musical roots began to show. Adding mandolin to her repertoire, Cindy released her first bluegrass album in 2012. The Road (Blue Road Records) for which Bluegrass Unlimited called Cindy a "new and different song writing voice," showcased the strength of her story-telling in song. The magazine also called Cindy "a forceful and confident singer." The Road includes “444 Chicken Bone Road” which has an accompanying music video that reached #1 on the Y’allwire Bluegrass National Video Chart.

Ella spent the end of 2017 developing her solo material and hit the studio in 2018.  She prides herself on having a strong presence in every aspect of being an artist, from building and co-producing her music, to producing and editing music videos and creating graphics herself. MUSIC NEWS
(17 Sept 2018) Kylie Minogue to perform at Glastonbury
Kylie Minogue has reportedly signed up to perform at next year's Glastonbury festival.
According to The Sun newspaper, the 50-year-old singer has agreed to perform in the Legends slot on Sunday afternoon at the legendary British music event.
The claims come 13 years after Kylie was forced to pull out of a scheduled performance at the festival due to her breast cancer battle.

"Kylie had to pull out of Glastonbury in 2005 just a month before she was due to appear so this performance will be a very emotional and poignant moment for her," a source told the publication. "She jumped at the opportunity to appear next year and it is the perfect way to celebrate her career."
Kylie was replaced by dance music stars Basement Jaxx at the 2005 festival. She appeared at Glastonbury as a special guest with the Scissor Sisters in 2010, but previously told the Press Association she was keen to headline the festival in the future.
"Then I was supposed to do it I think I would have been the first solo female to headline in however many years it was, so I was really proud of that at that time," she said. "Obviously it didn't happen. So yes, it would be amazing and very emotional to be standing there and doing what I didn't get to do all those years ago, for sure."
Glastonbury have announced details of when and how to get tickets for the festival in 2019.
The popular festival will return next year for its 49th year after taking a fallow year in 2018 to allow the land at Worthy Farm to recover.
Organisers have announced that the first tickets will go on sale in two batches; one with coach packages on October 4, and another standard ticket sale on October 7. Visit here for more tickets details and registration.
The first line-up announcement will follow in the months after, before a re-sale of unwanted tickets.

(17 Sept 2018) The Band Perry released new music on Friday (Sept. 21).
A five-song EP called Coordinates introduced their new sound, new record label and (once again) new visual aesthetic.
Variety delivered the news on Monday (Sept. 17), calling Coordinates "so unapologetically electronic it makes their previous couple of unabashedly pop singles sound like vintage Carter Family." Needless to say, they're not going to give country music another try after a year-long break that followed a foray into pop music.

(18 Sept 2018) Music Modernization Act Passed: Industry, Politicians Welcome 'The Most Important Piece Of Legislation In a Generation'
In the end, getting together the Music Modernization Act might have been harder than writing a hit song. But after years of trying to get copyright legislation passed, it finally happened, with now both the Senate and the House unanimously passing the legislation. Although, the legislation is still not a done deal until the Senate’s version is approved by the House of Representatives and then signed into law by President Trump. If and when that happens, record labels, publishers, songwriters and artist hope that the legislation proves as lucrative as a hit song.
“This is the most important piece of legislation in a generation,” Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said on the Senate floor after the bill was approved. “It makes sure songwriters get paid and get paid fairly.”
"The Internet changed the music industry just like it has changed other industries..but copyright law didn’t keep up,” he added. In fact, “Copyright laws were way out of date and hadn’t been modified since the days of the piano roll.”

REVIEWS
(23 Sept 2018) Review: Shania Twain at Manchester Arena
The Canadian superstar comes to Manchester with a sophisticated and classy show
Extract: Delivering more what is expected of them are romantic smash You're Still The One, the perfect hoedown tune Any Man Of Mine and the bouncy Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under. Shania looks every inch the country queen in her third of seven outfits of the evening comprised of black taffeta and red glittery stiletto boots but, although surrounded by incredibly high energy musicians and dancers, the star still seems to be conserving hers somewhat....What she lacks in energy, she makes up with some entertaining audience interaction but the crowd are still waiting for that ultimate concert buzz.

I hope everyone enjoys this video and song as much as I did singing and making it. May it take you back to the best times in your life, and let you remember all the nights!”
Nashville was a natural choice for Country music’s newest talent, Brailey Lenderman. In a time where women need to be heard now more than ever, she effortlessly holds her own in writing rooms alongside the industry’s biggest heavy hitters including Travis Meadows & Tim Nichols. A true multi-hyphenate, Brailey will demonstrates her resonating vocals along with her mature musicianship on her debut single “Remember All The Nights.”  Combining the charisma of Kelsea Ballerini with the rawness of Eric Church, Brailey’s breakout debut is sure to leave a lasting impression on the format for years to come.

(20 Sept 2018) Carrie Underwood knows whether she's expecting a boy or a girl the second time around, but in an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (Sept. 19), she says she's keeping mum for now.
Underwood told DeGeneres she and her husband, Mike Fisher, "like to kind of just hold onto things for a minute. I feel like everybody just knows everything about everybody, so we just like to have a little secret for a little while."
