Produced by three-time Grammy nominee and Rutland’s
long-time producer and mentor, Jamie O’Neal, “Pick Me Up” focuses on
breaking through the everyday routine with a soulful, upbeat chorus, reminding
there’s never a bad day to plan a good time.
“I am beyond excited to share this music video that
so perfectly captures my feelings behind 'Pick Me Up.' Creating the video was
incredible, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out,” said Rutland. “Working with Kristin
Barlowe, the cast and crew and shooting at the iconic Tinsley Farm was an
amazing experience. From the classic purple VW van to the string-light party
with friends, and everything in between, it all came together to bring my
lyrical vision to life.”
2017 is already proving to be a great year for
Rutland; her songs “Pick Me Up” and “More of That” are currently receiving
strong airplay on Radio Disney with “Pick Me Up” gaining significant momentum
on Spotify as well. Additionally, she was named Country Living Magazine’s
“Artist to Watch in 2017.”
Prior to this year, Rutland was named one of Billboard Magazine’s “Top 10 Artists to Watch” in 2014, was a finalist in the inaugural Nash Next competition in 2015, and accompanied Warner Music Nashville’s RaeLynn on tour in 2016.”
Growing up in Texas, country music made a lasting
impact on Rutland’s personal style. She attributes her eclectic sound to her
Texan upbringing and the musical influences of country powerhouses Reba
McEntire, Carrie Underwood, and Sara Evans. Rutland now a senior at Belmont
University in Nashville is graduating with her bachelor’s in Music Business,
where she receives dean’s list recognition.
“Reba, Carrie and Sara were a natural part of my
life growing up, because I was always listening to them on the radio,” Kaylee
recalls. “Each of them continues to inspire me, and when I look at the songs
I’ve written over the years, I can point to the specific places where they’ve
influenced my writing.”
