The track is
also the title of Ballerini’s first headlining arena tour, which launches April
11 in Maryland, with support from Brett Young and Brandon Ratcliff.
“We couldn’t have imagined this song going gold and being top 10 at country radio while kicking off this tour,” shared Ballerini. “It feels like a perfect storm and I’m so excited that this song, all about self-empowerment and love, surrounds my first ever arena headlining tour. See you this week on the road!”

The
Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes traditional
album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums
(SEA).
Billie Eilish scores her first No.1 album on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, as When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do
We Go? stormed in atop the tally with 313,000
equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 4, according
to Nielsen Music, scoring the second-largest week of 2019 for any album. Of the
album’s starting sum, 170,000 were in album sales, the second-largest sales week for an album
this year.
The
new album follows the steady success of Eilish’s first release, Don’t Smile at
Me, which has spent 67 weeks on the chart, and rises 20-15 on the new tally.
(It peaked at No. 14 in January.) The nine-song set was issued in 2017, has
earned 947,000 equivalent album units, and generated more than 1.2 billion
on-demand audio streams for its tracks.
Country
king George Strait clocks his 21st top 10 Billboard
200 album, as his new HONKY TONK TIME
MACHINE debuts at No.4 with
51,000 units (with 44,000 of that sum in album sales). Strait continues to have the most top
10s on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart among all country artists. Strait
debuted on the Billboard 200 chart 35 years ago, on March 3, 1984 with Right or
Wrong; logged his first visit to the top 10 with the Pure Country soundtrack in
1992; and was last in the top 10 with 2015’s Cold Beer Conversation (also
debuting, and peaking, at No. 4).
Top

compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).

Strait’s 30th
Studio Album is the Best-Selling Country Album of 2019 and Sets a Record-Making
27th No. 1 Album of His Career
George Strait further cemented his iconic
status within the history of country music with a record-making 27th No.1 on Billboard’s Top Country
Albums Chart with his latest, HONKY TONK
TIME MACHINE. With 51,000 equivalent album units (44,000 sales), the album
also lands at No.4 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart and marked the largest
week of 2019 for any country album.
As reported by Billboard, “George Strait
extends his record for the most No. 1s in the five-decade history of
Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, as the King of Country logs his 27th
leader with the chart-topping debut of Honky Tonk Time Machine.”

Produced by George Strait and Chuck Ainley,
Honky Tonk Time Machine includes 13 tracks, eight of which were written by
Strait himself. The album includes “Sing One with Willie” featuring Willie
Nelson and Strait's own take on the Johnny Paycheck classic “Old Violin.”
Strait
kicked off his album launch with a sold-out show at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz
Stadium. Performing hits from across his 30+ year career plus debuting songs
from the new album, the Atlanta Journal Constitution notes, “More than 50,000
sang along heartily” with Strait, “a guy who can command a massive audience
merely by tapping his right boot heel.”
George

album is Strait’s first new studio effort since 2015’s Cold Beer Conversation (Debut

debut since Love Is Everything in 2013. Strait made his Top Country Albums
debut on the list dated Oct. 3, 1981, with his debut effort, Strait Country,
which peaked at No. 26. He notched his first No.1 in 1984 with his third studio
set, Right or Wrong.
Meanwhile,
the new set’s first single, “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar,” which Strait wrote
with son Bubba and longtime collaborator Dean Dillon, bumped 19-18 on Country
Airplay (12.4 million impressions, up 1%) and 25-22 on the airplay-, streaming-
and sales-fueled Hot Country Songs chart.

Combs with “Beautiful
Crazy” (River House/Columbia Nashville) ruled Country Airplay
for a seventh week (38.6 million, down 4%).
“Crazy” is now tied for the second-longest rule in the history of Country
Airplay, which launched in 1990. It matches Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying”
(2004), Kenny Chesney’s “There Goes My Life” (2003-04), Darryl Worley’s “Have
You Forgotten?” (2003) and Chesney’s “The Good Stuff” (2002).
Only one week stands between Combs’ fifth leader and the two
longest-leading No.1s, both with eight frames in the penthouse: Alan Jackson
and Jimmy Buffet’s “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” (2003) and Lonestar’s “Amazed”
(1999).
Kelsea
Ballerini banked her sixth Country Airplay top 10 as “Miss Me More” (Black River) ascended 11-10 (20.9
million, up 6%). She made her first trip to the region since “Legends” led the
list in February 2018. Ballerini banked No.1s with her first three singles in
2015-16: “Love Me Like You Mean It,” “Dibs” and “Peter Pan.”
Notably, “Miss” marked the first Country Airplay top 10 by a female
artist since the chart dated Dec. 1, 2018, when Maren Morris’ “Rich” ranked at
its No. 4 peak. In the same span a year earlier (Dec. 2, 2017-April 14, 2018),
two songs by solo women hit that level of the chart: Morris’ “I Could Use a
Love Song” and Ballerini’s “Legends,” which both reached No. 1. The same
stretch a year before yielded three top 10s by females: Carrie Underwood’s
“Dirty Laundry,” the No. 1 “Road Less Traveled” by Lauren Alaina and
Ballerini’s “Yeah Boy.”
Eli
Young Band scored its fourth Country Airplay top 10 and
first since 2013 as “Love Ain’t”
(Valory) leapt 12-7 (23.1 million, up 21%). The group topped the chart
with its first three top 10s: “Drunk Last Night” (2013), “Even If It Breaks
Your Heart” (2012) and “Crazy Girl” (2011).

Coming
off his first-ever ACM Award nomination for New Male Artist of the Year,
Michael Ray is celebrating his third career No.1 on the Mediabase country
radio singles chart this week with his addictive hit single “One That Got
Away.” It’s the first single to hit the top spot on the charts from his
critically acclaimed album AMOS, which debuted in the Top 3 on the Billboard
country albums chart upon its release last summer.
“From the moment we began playing ’One That
Got Away’ in our live show, we could feel it was a special song,” Ray said
after getting the good news. “What makes it even more meaningful to me is
that’s it’s the first number one single from Amos, which personally is a record
that means so much to me.”
“One
that Got Away” now joins Ray’s previous No. 1s “Think a Little Less” and “Kiss
You in the Morning,” and continues a career ascension propelled by the Florida
native’s drive to succeed.
Ray celebrated his latest professional
accomplishment in Las Vegas, serving as a co-host for the official PEOPLE red
carpet pre-show telecast at the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday
(April 7). Soon after, Ray also served as an award presenter on the show
alongside fiancé Carly Pearce, which aired live from the MGM Grand Garden
Arena.
“Grew
up watching the ACM Awards,” Ray posted on his Instagram page on Thursday (April
4) alongside a pic of him looking out at the Vegas skyline. “I can’t believe I
get to be part of them this year.”
