Dierks Bentley Celebrates
18th No. One And Award-Winning "Burning Man"
Bentley Hosts Lunch
at Martin’s BBQ with Brothers Osborne and BMI Songwriters Luke Dick and Bobby
Pinson
NASHVILLE, TN -
Apr. 16, 2019 - Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley was joined by family and friends (Monday April 15)
to celebrate his 18th career No.One
single "Burning Man” feat. Brothers Osborne as it serves as the second
consecutive chart-topper off of his ninth studio album THE MOUNTAIN. Teaming up
with BMI at Martin's BBQ in downtown Nashville, Bentley and Brothers Osborne
celebrated the ACM award-winning hit alongside co-writers Bobby Pinson (BMI)
and Luke Dick (BMI), as it serves as Dick's first No. One celebration.

"When you
release songs to radio it’s like the cliff notes of your album and 'Burning
Man’ is one of the most important pieces of THE MOUNTAIN,” said Bentley. “When
you do a collaboration it’s a leap of faith but there is no one else that could
have done what these guys did on this song. We were in direct communication
with no one else involved you know…John walks in with his guitar and amp...I’ve
just been really lucky to work with people like these guys where it’s all about
the music and friendship. It’s rare to find that outside of Nashville and a
really unique thing that is happening in Country music right now."
"When he
sent us the song it was done and already sounded awesome," added TJ
Osborne, “I’m such a fan of Dierks and when I listened to the demo, it already
sounded like a Dierks hit and it took me a minute to really make it mine. To
take that risk on us with something that already sounded great was all on
Dierks.”

The
Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes
traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent
albums (SEA).
Khalid notched his first No.1 on
the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart
(BB200), as his third release, FREE
SPIRIT, opened atop the tally. The set, released on April 5 through Right
Hand/RCA Records, started with 202,000
equivalent album units earned in the week ending April 11, according to Nielsen
Music -- the fourth-largest week of 2019 for an album. Of that sum, 85,000 were in traditional album
sales.
Free
Spirit’s start of 202,000 equivalent album units was the fourth-biggest week
for an album in 2019, and the largest for a set by a male solo artist. The
only bigger weeks logged in 2019 were the starting frames of Ariana Grande’s
Thank U, Next (360,000), Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We
Go? (313,000) and Backstreet Boys’ DNA (234,000).
Country
duo Brooks & Dunn returned to the top 10 for
the first time in nearly a decade, as REBOOT
debuted at No.8. The all-star
collaborations effort features Brooks & Dunn covering their familiar hits
with the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett. The album bows
with 31,000 equivalent album units
earned, with 21,000
of that sum in
album sales. All told, Reboot marks Brooks & Dunn’s 10th top 10 album, and
first since the 2009 greatest hits album #1s… And Then Some (No. 5; Sept. 26,
2009). With Brooks & Dunn’s 10th top 10 album, the act breaks out of a tie
with Rascal Flatts for the most top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 among
country duos and groups.
Top
Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as
compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an
album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA)
“sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from
an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.
Nielsen
Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to
billboard biz ), exclusively comprising
Nielsen’s sales data.
REBOOT’ SCOOTS
TO NO. 1
Brooks & Dunn soar in at No.1 on Top Country Albums (#8
Billboard 200) with REBOOT (Arista
Nashville/Sony Music Nashville), which bows with 31,000 equivalent album units
earned (21,200 in traditional album sales)
in the week ending April 11.
The
all-star collaborative effort finds Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn covering their
hits with the such artists as Luke Combs, Kacey Musgraves and Thomas Rhett.
Eight of the set’s 12 songs are updates of the tandem’s 20 Hot Country Songs
No.1s, tallied between 1991 and 2005.
“Sometimes
the stars just line up, and good things happen,” said Dunn. “The success of this record is a tribute to
the power of collaboration, which allowed this record to sing.” Adds
Brooks, “It is hard to believe after all
these years that this music is at the top of Billboard’s Top Country Albums
chart. I love these songs, and we owe a big thanks to all the amazing artists
who brought them to life again. I don’t remember ever having more fun in the
studio. Everybody says that, but I really think the proof is in the grooves!”
Reboot
is Brooks & Dunn’s seventh Top Country Albums No.1 and first since their
2009 best-of package #1s … and Then Some. On the all-genre Billboard 200, the
collection arrives at No. 8, marking the pair’s 10th top 10 and breaking it out
of a tie with Rascal Flatts for the most among country duos/groups in the chart’s
63-year history.
CHART HISTORY: Their last studio album
and 10TH COWBOY TOWN contained four
Top 20 country singles on the Billboard country singles charts: "Proud of
the House We Built," "God Must Be Busy," "Put a Girl in
It," and "Cowgirls Don't Cry." The album debuted at #13 on the
Billboard albums chart, selling 68,900 copies in the first week of release.

Critical reception for Brooks & Dunn’s Reboot:
These
cuts aren't stumbles as much as confirmation that Brooks & Dunn may be a
tad too old to learn new tricks, but the rest of Reboot proves that they're
still adept at sounding big and burly nearly 30 years after their debut. - Allmusic (Rating: 3 STARS)
The highlights on Reboot
come thick and fast. My Next Broken Heart with Jon Pardi is a perfect
collaboration for Brooks & Dunn, given that Pardi is one of the few modern
Country artists making traditional Country music. Similarly Midland’s inclusion
on Boot Scootin’ Boogie is a marriage made in heaven and it can be hard to tell
where Midland ends and Brooks & Dunn begin. Kacey Musgraves produces a
version of Neon Moon that incorporates shimmering beats that wouldn’t have been
out of place on her award-winning album Golden Hour. Reboot is a unique celebration of an act that
has enjoyed impressive longevity and left a long-lasting impression on Country
music. In some ways you could see Reboot as Brooks & Dunn giving their
stamp of approval to 12 of today’s Country artists but it also serves as a
timely reminder of just what incredible artists they are.- Entertainment Focus (Rating: 4.5/ 5)
"Reboot" is a
cross between a tribute album and a redo, and overwhelmingly, the idea works.
The general idea is that the guest artist will trade lines with Brooks or
Dunn....The songs have stood the test of time. Updated here, perhaps too much at
times (think drums beats and electronics as on "Lost and Found,"
where it overwhelms newcomer Tyler Booth) to give them more of a modern sheen.
Too bad because that was not needed. Then again that's what producer Dann Huff
is about. Better yet is the twangy, steely guitar and feel of "My Next
Broken Heart' with Jon Pardi as the song gallops along.
Modern beats aside at times,
Brooks & Dunn give a generally welcome re-introduction of their songs with
help from musicians who seem to have the right interpretation. - Country Standard Time (Rating: Positive)
Wait, the album’s over
already? Where’s that repeat button? - Your Life In A Song
Luke Combs with THIS ONE’S FOR YOU (River House/Columbia Nashville | SMN; 30 weeks
at No1) held at No.2 (#13-11
Billboard 200; 4,700
sales; 97-week
total 453,000).
Previous
week No.1 George Strait with HONKY TONK TIME MACHINE. (MCA Nashville | UMGN) fell 1-3
(#4-20 Billboard 200; 18,100 sales; 2-week total 62,000).
Reba McEntire debuted at No.4 on Top Country Albums (#22
Billboard 200) with STRONGER THAN THE
TRUTH (Rockin R/Big Machine/BMLG), which opened with 21,000 equivalent album units (19,800 sold).
The set launched as her 27th top 10, a sum that includes 13
No.1s. Dating to McEntire’s first week in the top 10 almost 33 years ago (April
19, 1986), when her debut leader, Whoever’s in New England, rose 11-8, she boasts
the most top 10s among women; Dolly Parton and Trisha Yearwood follow with 14
each in that span. Among all artists, McEntire trails George Strait (37) and
matches Alan Jackson for the most top 10s in that stretch.
Stronger
Than the Truth is the thirty-third studio album by American country music
singer Reba McEntire. It was released on April 5, 2019, by Big Machine Records.
CHART HISTORY: Her last album and first
inspirational album, SING IT NOW: SONGS
OF FAITH & HOPE (released February 3, 2017), started at No.4 with 54,000 units (52,039 from traditional album
sales). The arrival grants the country superstar her 10th top 10-charting set
on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, and a 13th leader on the Top Country
Albums chart. Sing It Now also launches at No.1 on the Top Christian Albums
chart – McEntire’s first entrance on that tally.
LOVE SOMEBODY released April 14, 2015 made a debut at No.1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums, and No.3 on Billboard 200, selling 58,351 copies (Total sales at Sept 2016 were 202,400)
ALL THE WOMEN I AM (Starstruck/Valory) released on Nov 9, 2010, debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200, and at #3 on the Top Country Albums chart, selling 64,174 copies.
KEEP ON LOVING YOU (Starstruck/Valory) released Aug 18, 2009, became McEntire's second album to debut at #1 on both the Billboard Top Country Albums and Billboard 200 charts, with 95,817 copies sold its first week.
Reba:
DUETS (Sept 18, 2007) arrived with 300,536 first-week sales and debuted
at #1 on the Billboard Top Country
Albums chart and the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.
ROOM TO BREATHE (Nov 18, 2003) reached #4 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and peaked at #25 on the Billboard 200 all-genres list with first week sales of 72,297.
SO GOOD TOGETHER (released Nov 23, 1999) peaked at No.5 on the Billboard Top Country Albums. It peaked at No.28 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums with sales of 49,000.
IF YOU SEE HIM (June 2, 1998) debuted at No.2 Billboard Top Country Albums & No.8 on the Billboard 200 chart with over 93,000 copies sold in the first week.
STARTING OVER McEntire's 19th album, released in Oct 3, 1995. Intended to mark the 20th anniversary of her recording career, it was a collection of covers of well-known songs. It not only topped the country charts but hit number five in the pop charts, selling 101,000 copies (chart for the week of Oct 21, 1995). It was certified Platinum by the RIAA three months after its release.
WHAT IF IT'S YOU (released Nov 5, 1996) was simultaneously certified gold and platinum on Jan 16, 1997, the album eventually topped two million copies (certified 2x Multi-Platinum Nov 10, 1999).
Critical reception for Reba McEntire’s Stronger
Than The Truth:
While
she returns to this hardcore sound on occasion throughout the record -- witness
the skipping "No U in Oklahoma," so nimble it could've been part of
the Texas Playboys' repertoire -- McEntire sticks to the kind of country that
made her a star back in the '80s, emphasizing nuanced ballads and well-rendered
narratives. Tempos rarely quicken on Stronger Than the Truth -- apart from the
two western swing numbers, there's the gilded confidence of "Storm in a
Shot Glass," but not much more than that -- but the album doesn't feel
soft or meandering....that deft, subtle blend of music and message gives Stronger
Than the Truth a lasting emotional resonance. - All Music (Rating: 4 STARS)
She sounds the cheekiest and
most lighthearted during a pair of western-swing tracks: "No U in
Oklahoma," a kiss-off that name-checks her native state, and "Swing
All Night Long With You," which contains nearly two full minutes of frisky
fiddle, piano, hollow-body guitar and steel solos….Mostly, though, McEntire
focuses on telling stories of domestic betrayal in grand yet thoroughly
grounded fashion – NPR

FALLING
SHORT of Top 50:
On the Country Album Sales list (pure sales; old methodology)
Molly Tuttle with WHEN YOU'RE READY (Compass Records) made a debut at No.16 selling 1,800
copies.
An insightful,
gifted songwriter who was crowned “Instrumentalist of the Year” at the 2018
Americana Music Awards on the strength of her EP Rise, Tuttle has broken
boundaries and garnered the respect of her peers, winning fans for her
incredible flat-picking guitar technique and confessional songwriting. Graced
with a clear, true voice and a keen melodic sense, the 25-year-old seems poised
for a long and exciting career. When You’re Ready, produced by Ryan Hewitt (The
Avett Brothers, The Lumineers) showcases her astonishing range and versatility
and shows that she is more than simply an Americana artist.
Critical
reception for Molly Tuttle’s When You're Ready:
Molly Tuttle was right to take time
before releasing her first complete CD. The production, playing and songwriting
coalesce into a striking statement that shows an already developed artist well
on her way to the next level of her still nascent career. - American Songwriter (Rating: 80/100)
When You're Ready is a
sharply confident debut, as Tuttle proves an expressive vocalist and an
idiosyncratic songwriter. - Uncut
(Rating: 7/10)
Left to her own devices,
Tuttle has emerged as a deft songwriter with an open heart, a keen ear for
melody, and a flair for pairing dusty folk with Americana-kissed country-pop.
- Allmusic (Rating: 3.1/2 STARS)
What drew people to
Tuttle's music to begin with was that delightfully dissonant combination of
sweet singing and monster-shredder guitar playing, and that's just not what
this album delivers. - Exclaim
(Rating: 6/10)
“Tuttle doesn't need the window dressing. Some of her material is a little thin, but as a songwriter she has a winning way with a melody. And the final cut, "Clue," shows her capabilities as a performer. The song highlights Tuttle's voice, with long vowels that soar and bluesy twists that suggest her next record will be better” – Associated Press
