The
Billboard 200 chart measures multi-metric album consumption, which includes
traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent
albums (SEA).
Logic Scores
Third No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With 'Confessions of a Dangerous Mind'
Logic notched his third No. 1
album on the Billboard Top 200 Album
Chart (BB200) as Confessions of a Dangerous Mind debuted atop the tally.
The
set started with 80,000 equivalent
album units earned in the week ending May 16, according to Nielsen Music. Of
that sum, 24,000
were in album
sales. Confessions was released on May 10 via Visionary/Def Jam Recordings.
Logic
previously led the list with Bobby Tarantino II (in 2018) and Everybody (2017).
Logic made his Billboard 200 debut in 2014 with Under Pressure, which peaked at
No. 4 -- his first of six top 10 albums (including Confessions).
Confessions’
debut frame was largely powered by streaming activity, as the set racked up
54,000 SEA units (of its total 80,000 overall units). That 54,000 SEA number
equates to 73.93 million on-demand audio
streams for its tracks in the album’s debut frame, which also made it the
most streamed album of the week.
Luke
Combs’ This One’s For You jumped 12-7, revisiting the top 10 for the first time
in nearly a year. The album, which was released in 2017, was last in the top 10
(at No.10) on the July 28, 2018-dated chart, and peaked at No.4 on June 16 of
that same year (following a deluxe reissue of the set).
Top
Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as
compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an
album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA)
“sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from
an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.
Nielsen
Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to
billboard biz ), exclusively comprising
Nielsen’s sales data.
Luke Combs with his debut LP, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU (River
House/Columbia Nashville/Sony Music Nashville) logged its 35th week at No.1 on Top Country Albums (#12-7 Billboard 200; 28,000
equivalent album units, up 5%) and moved into a tie for the fifth-longest reign
with Taylor Swift’s FEARLESS and the O'Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack.
With those sets from 2008 and 2000, respectively, Combs’ 2017 album ties them
for the longest rule of any title released this century. Shania Twain’s 1997
album Come On Over holds the record for the most time at No.1 (50 weeks) in the
chart’s history, which dates to 1964.
Dan + Shay with their self-titled album (Warner
Bros./Warner Music Nashville) held at No.2 (#31-35 BB200) in their 47th
frame.
Chris Stapleton with the 211-week TRAVELLER (MERCURY/ UMGN) moved 4-3 (#53-49 BB200).
Morgan Wallen with IF I KNOW ME (Big Loud Digital EX) climbed
6-4 (#62-51 BB200) in his 50th
frame.

Morris with GIRL (Columbia
Nashville/ Sony Music Nashville [SMN]) fell 3-5 (#52 non mover Billboard 200) in her 10th week.
Former
No.1 Kacey
Musgraves with GOLDEN HOUR (MCA
Nashville) fell 5-6 (#59-55 BB200) in her 54th week.
Former 6-week non-consecutive week No.1 Jason Aldean with REARVIEW
TOWN (Macon/Broken Bow Records) held at No.7 (#75-69 BB200) in his 57th week.
Former No.1 Kane Brown with sophomore album, entitled EXPERIMENT held at No.8 (#79-74 BB200;
27 chart weeks) as his self-titled album dropped 10-11 (#89-86
BB200; 128 weeks).
Former
No.1 Carrie Underwood with CRY PRETTY pushed 23-9 (#77 Re-Entry BB200) in her 35th week.
Florida Georgia Line with CAN’T SAY I AIN’T COUNTRY (Big Machine Label Group) slipped 9-10 (#80-79
BB200) in their 13th week.
Outside the
Top 10
Former
No.1 George Strait with HONKY TONK
TIME MACHINE
(MCA Nashville | UMGN) fell 12-13 (#113-109
BB200) in his 7th week.
Former No.1 Brooks & Dunn with REBOOT (Arista Nashville/Sony Music Nashville) fell 16-19 (#152-171 Billboard 200) in their 6th frame.
Former No.1 Brett Young with Ticket to L.A. retreated
18-21 (#188 – off the top BB200) in his
23rd week.
Outside the Top 25
Rodney Atkins with 12-track CAUGHT UP IN THE COUNTRY (Curb | Amazon UK - UK iTunes - Amazon.com) his fifth
LP and first since 2011’s Take a Back Road, which debuted at its No. 3 Top
Country Albums peak, arrived at No.28
with 5,000 equivalent album units (#8
debut on Country Album Sales).
Atkins co-penned all 12 tracks on his fifth studio album — his first new
music project since 2011’s Take a Back Road — including the lead single and
title track, featuring vocals from the Fisk Jubilee Singers.

Blake
Shelton scored his 14th No.1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, and first since “Sure
Be Cool If You Did” led for five weeks in 2013, as “God’s Country”
(Warner Bros./Warner Music Nashville) rose 2-1
in its eighth week on the airplay-, streaming- and sales-driven survey (dated
May 25).
“Honestly, I wasn’t even looking for songs or to go in
the studio, but my producer [Scott Hendricks] called me one day and said, ‘I’ve
got a few songs you need to listen to,’ and ‘God’s Country’ was the first one
that he played,” Shelton told Billboard. “And man, it stopped me in my tracks.
I called him and said, ‘We’ve got to record this now.’ I love the song and
think it really fills a spot musically that’s missing in country music right now,
and I’m so glad the fans like it as much as I do.”
The song concurrently climbed into the top 10 on the
Country Airplay chart (11-10), becoming his 32nd top 10, with a 13% gain to
23.4 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen Music. The song also
surges by 26% to 26,000 downloads sold, although it dipped to No.2 after six
weeks atop Country Digital Song Sales, and is up 6% to 10.8 million U.S.
streams, despite a 2-4 retreat on Country Streaming Songs.
Following its
first full week of tracking, Luke Combs with
“Beer
Never Broke My Heart” (River House/Columbia Nashville/Sony Music
Nashville) released May 8, romped 12-3
on Hot Country Songs. It became his sixth top 10, a total that includes the No.1s
“When It Rains It Pours” and “Beautiful Crazy.”
His new hit bounded onto Country Streaming Songs at No.2
with 11 million U.S. streams, marking the best first full week of streaming
ever for a country song. It topped the 7 million that Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a
Back Road” drew in its first full frame in February 2017. Combs performed
“Beer” on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on May 9.
