Reviver Records artiste Tenille Arts celebrates moms hosting a one-hour Mother’s Day Special radio program
Woodrow Wilson (28th President of the United
States: March 4, 1913 – March 4, 1921) designated the second Sunday in May as a
national holiday in America honoring mothers.
This year Mother's Day is celebrated in
America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and many other countries on Sunday, 12
May 2019
Tenille Arts hosts a one-hour music special dedicated
to moms, featuring songs from today’s hottest country stars, including Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Ashley McBryde,
Thomas Rhett, Dan + Shay, Kacey Musgraves
and more. The program is packed with artist sound bites and liners for Mother’s
Day.
It also features Tenille’s brand new song
"Call You Names" which is the perfect song for Mother’s Day
weekend. She explains the story behind her touching new single and her
relationship with her own mother.
The Radio special is in 4 segments.
Watch the official music video for "Call
You Names" by Tenille Arts. Directed by Robby Starbuck as a way of
appreciating the moms who do everything and give all their love to their kids.
Rather than being overly sentimental, the lyrics describe the sometimes-complicated relationships between mothers and their children, and depict a more realistic approach to appreciating moms.
Arts begins the song by singing, “I remember
you caught me / With that first cigarette I smoked / If you’d heard what I
called you / You’da washed my mouth out with soap.”
Arts, who co-wrote the song with James T. Slater, includes two different
choruses, which are delivered from two distinct perspectives.
The first, told through the voice of a
teenager, says, “I called you controlling / I called you mean / I called you
everything in between / I couldn’t wait to break your chains / So I called you
names.” Arts has said the song was an apology to her mother for her own
difficult teenage years. In the third verse, the song takes on more maturity,
saying, “Now I’m here in this little one bedroom apartment / And I call you
wondering how to / Get a wine stain out of the carpet / And we talk for an
hour.”
The lyrics then segue into the second chorus,
which continues to shift the now-grown teen's perspective to, “I call you mama,
my best friend / My everything 'til the end / I call you my angel / I call you
a saint / Yeah, I call you names.”
