The CMA
kicked off a busy weekend overseas celebrating country music with a sold-out
CMA Songwriters Series show on Day One of C2C2017 held on Thursday night (March
9, 2017) at indigo at the O2 in London. The show featured performances by
Kristian Bush, Mac McAnally, Maren Morris, Liz Rose, and Drake White.
Over the
course of the weekend various members of the UK & European Country press
and radio were invited to meet the acts who were appearing on both the Yamaha
and Main Stage within the O2 Arena.
Richard Wootton the owner of Richard Wootton Publicity compered
the press conferences. The CMA (Country Music Association) presented three
International Awards throughout the weekend and Richard Wootton, receiving the Wesley Rose International Media Achievement
Award for the second time, he was first honoured back in 1991.
Others to receive awards were Bob Harris (OBE), winner of the International Country Broadcaster Award for a second time, his fourth CMA award. The Shires, received the Jeff Walker Global Country Artist Award. The CMA International Awards are voted on by CMA International Membership, as well as a panel of U.S.-based industry members.
