Biography
Donna Marie Facebook Photo |
The livewire from Enniscorthy benefits from having been surrounded with music from birth.
She
was on the local school choir and was pushed forward to sing the solo parts.
Which
encouraged her at aged 11 to record her first song "Angel" by The Kelly
Family, in studio to feature on her parent’s cassette, which was followed by a 4-hour
bass guitar lesson from her mother and her first live gig that same night. She
continued to gig with her parents for a few years that’s where her country
roots came from!
She
then moved on to become a member of the southeast's legendary band "Breeze
Junkie/Breeze52" and made the transfer from a talented and key band member
to a leading solo artist.
The
first big move in this direction was several appearances on RTE followed by the release of her
debut Single "Simple Song" in April 2010, which made it into the Irish
Charts the week of release. Described by the press as "An Infectious Foot
Tapper" "Sometimes The (Simple) Things Are Best", and " very
unique". Donna Marie’s musical aspirations are slated to be very much on
an up.
A
second single "I Can't See It" was released in April 2011 along with her
first music video on >> YouTube.
Donna
Marie penned the song ‘Little Angel’ with her partner
Michael Cloke which served to raise both substantial money and awareness on the
topic of abducted children.
A
country single “Just Someone I Used to Know” (LittleAngelMusic) was released by Donna Marie & Michael J
Cloke dropped on Sept 24, 2015 (Amazon
UK | IE iTunes | Amazon.com)
Single
and video "I'm Missing You" aired on the Phil Mack Country Show (Sky/Freesat) in September 2013
Donna Marie has shared stages with such artists as, Davey Artur & The Furys, Brian Kennedy, Derek Ryan, Michael J Cloke , Gerry Carney, The Saw Doctors, The Jades, David O Connor, The Druids and many more along with her own nationwide gigs and performances on live TV, Radio, Festivals and internet shows.
Donna Marie and her band also provided the half time entertainment for the capacity 18,000 attendance at a crucial Leinster v Edinburgh Magners League rugby showdown in the RDS.
After
suffering from vocal nodules for 2 years she returned to the studio to record
new tracks.
New single "Life Is Good" was self-released on June 16, 2017.
