COUNTRY HITS RADIO
SLOGAN: Today’s best country from the UK’s first national country music
station
The announcement of Country Hits Radio came just 2 days after the C2C2019 Country 2
Country music festival which took place over the weekend - which is routinely
covered by BBC Radio 2 and is the biggest festival of its kind outside of the
US.
"When you look at the
success of artists such as The Shires and Ward Thomas as well as huge events
like Country 2 Country, it's clear there's a real audience for country music in
the UK," said Una Healy.
"It's a genre I've fallen
in love with and it's thrilling that it now has a home in Country Hits Radio. I
can't wait to get started!"
Healy is the second Saturday
to enter the world of radio presenting. Mollie King currently co-hosts Radio
1's weekend breakfast show with Matt Edmondson.

Will feature the likes of Keith Urban, Kacey
Musgraves, Thomas Rhett, Maren Morris and Carrie Underwood, station bosses
said.
Bauer added country was the
"biggest genre of music to have previously been without its own radio
station".
The station's launch is a
continuation of the company's rapid expansion in the radio industry.
Bauer has
already launched two new stations this year - Scala Radio and Greatest
Hits Radio - and last week acquired the UKRD group, which owns 10 local
radio stations in the UK.
Other stations owned by Bauer
include Magic, Kiss, Planet Rock, Kerrang and Absolute.
“Really excited about the
latest launch for our expanding network, tapping into the single biggest music
genre without a full national radio station. Country as a genre is growing
hugely and we are looking to reflect its growing popularity #countryhits”
- Graham Bryce (@grahamdbryce) Group Managing Director, Hits Radio
Brand Networks, Bauer Media
LAUNCH:
During launch week next month, the station will play host to guest appearances from Chase Rice, Carly Pearce, Ashley McBryde, Brett Eldredge and Jimmie Allen.

Una returned to her roots for her solo debut, weaving magnetic folk, pop and rock melodies into echoes of the country music she grew up with. Speaking of The Waiting Game, Una commented: "Over the past 2 years I've been writing and recording my debut solo album and I'm so excited to finally share it with everyone. I have literally been playing the waiting game! The songs were all written from the heart and I hope people can relate to them. The sound of the album is very true to my roots and is a return to the music I've always loved."
On THE WAITING GAME, Una worked with some of the world’s most
acclaimed songwriters and producers, including Grammy winner Amy Wadge (Ed

Co-written by Una with Nick
Atkinson and Edd Holloway, Una explains “I wrote "Never See Me Cry"
as an empowerment anthem for anybody who's ever had someone walk all over them.
It's a big 'f you' to a lover, a boss or a friend that's ever made you feel
small or worthless. It's a fight song for everyone out there who are sick of
being dominated - the tides are turning out there and it's clear that it's our
time to take back control'.” Watch the video here
