albums (SEA).
Jonas Brothers' 'Happiness Begins' Album Bundles in at No. 1 on
Billboard 200 Chart With Biggest Week of 2019
Jonas
Brothers
celebrate their third No. 1 album on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart
(BB200), as HAPPINESS BEGINS bowed atop the chart. The set earned 414,000
equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending June 13, of which 357,000 were in album sales *. Both
figures represent the largest week of the year for any album in terms of units
and album sales.
Happiness
Begins was released June 7 via Republic Records and is the pop trio’s first
studio album since 2009’s chart-topping Lines, Vines and Trying Times.
In
total, Happiness Begins’ starting sum of 414,000 equivalent album units are
comprised of 357,000 in album sales *, 52,000 in SEA units and 5,000 in TEA
units.
Largest
Sales Week for an Album in More Than a Year: Of Happiness’ debut-week units,
album sales comprise 357,000 of that sum. That’s the largest sales week for an album
since Taylor Swift’s reputation blew in with 1.22 million sold on the Dec. 2,
2017, chart. Happiness’ * first-week sales were largely powered by sales
generated from a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with more
than 60 dates of the group’s upcoming U.S. arena tour.
Jonas
Brothers’ Biggest Sales Week in More Than a Decade: The last Jonas Brothers
album to log a larger sales week than Happiness was A Little Bit Longer, which
bowed with 525,000 sold on the Aug. 30, 2008-dated list (at No. 1).
Luke
Combs’ THE PREQUEL EP drove in at No. 4
on the Billboard 200 with 48,000 equivalent album units -- with 22,000 of that sum in album sales.
The Prequel is Combs’ second top 10 effort and matched the peak position of his
other top 10 set, the full-length effort THIS ONE’S FOR YOU, which topped out
at No. 4 (June 16, 2018).
The
new five-song EP contains Combs’ current hit single “Beer Never Broke My
Heart,” which has so far peaked at No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and at
No. 10 on the Country Airplay list (as of the most recently published lists,
dated June 15).
Top
Country Albums now ranks the most popular country albums of the week, as
compiled by Nielsen Music, based on multi-metric consumption (blending traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA)).
10 digital track sales from an
album = 1 track equivalent album (TEA)
“sale”
1,500 on demand song streams from
an album to one streaming equivalent album (SEA) “sale”.
Nielsen
Music compiles the sales and streaming data. Billboard continues to publish pure album sales charts (subscription to
billboard biz ), exclusively comprising
Nielsen’s sales data.
Another
One: River House/Columbia's Luke Combs had the top-selling country album
this week with The Prequel.
Luke
Combs’ new five-track EP THE
PREQUEL (River House/Columbia Nashville/ Sony Music Nashville) stormed to
the top of Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (dated June 22), earning
48,000 equivalent album units in its first week (ending June 13), according to
Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 22,000 copies were from traditional album sales;
the set earned 25.3 million on-demand audio streams for its songs in its
debut frame.
Concurrently,
Combs’ 2017 debut LP, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU (River House/Columbia
Nashville/Sony Music Nashville) held at No. 2 on Top Country Albums (#12-13
Billboard 200; 27,000 units, up 4%) in its 106th frame.
Critical reception for Luke Combs’ The Prequel:
With
his husky vocals, sentimental lyrics and smooth melodies, the North Carolina
artist's latest body of work not only continues to showcase his chops as an
entertainer, but also demonstrates his growth in connecting with an audience
always ready for more. ....Overall, The Prequel is everything you'd expect from
Combs and a little more, with some growth in writing and playing with a
listener's emotions. (Rating 9/10) Exclaim.ca
The
saying, 'Strike while the iron's hot,' applies to many situations, but
especially to the music business. The scene moves so fast these days that this
last year's star could be this year's 'Where are they now?' Luke Combs moved
quickly up the country music popularity ladder, so he's smart to put out this
five-song EP between full-lengths......Luke Combs is one of the hottest new
voices in country music. He appeals to both mainstream and traditional country
music fans alike. With "The Prequel EP," Combs adds even more fuel to
his growing fire - Country Standard Time

Brett Eldredge Hits #1 With 'Love Someone'
Congrats
to Brett
Eldredge,
Kristen Williams, Katie Bright and the WMN team on landing the week’s
No.1 with “Love Someone.” The chart-topper hails from his current
self-titled album. Songwriters are Ross Copperman, Heather Morgan and Eldredge.
“Love Someone” (Warner/WMN)
climbed 4-1 logging 7,895 radio spins (+971), 46.934 million audience impressions (+4.928)
with 25782 Total Points (+3224) from 156 tracking stations (156 ADDS)
for the tracking week June 9 to June 15, 2019 and published chart dated June 17,
2019.
It’s
lucky number seven for Brett Eldredge – first notching an impressive seventh
Platinum single earlier this year with “The Long Way” and now earning his seventh
country chart-topper in “Love Someone.” The “summery, feel-good ode to the
butterflies spawned by a healthy relationship” (Rolling Stone), written by
Eldredge with Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan, reached the top of the
Mediabase / Country Aircheck country airplay chart this week and has topped 75
million streams.
“Love
Someone” hails from his SELF-TITLED album, which debuted at No.1 on the
Billboard Top Album Sales (all-genre) and Top Country Albums charts. The singer
/ songwriter has also earned a No. 1 Holiday / Adult Contemporary song with his
duet of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” alongside GRAMMY-winner Meghan Trainor.
“It’s
been a hell of a ride with ‘Love Someone,’” Eldredge said. “I have to thank
Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan for bringing your amazing gifts and writing
this song with me... and of course I have to thank my insanely passionate fans,
country radio and my team for their belief in me and my music. What a way to
finish out this album – and we are just getting started!”
Eldredge
took the stage in his home state of Illinois (Sun June 16) at the Tailgate N’
Tallboys music festival to celebrate both his chart-topper and Father’s Day.
His own dad joined him for a special fan-fueled rendition of “Love Someone”
(watch HERE).
The
entertainer was most recently on the road for his headlining “The Long Way
Tour,” named for his Platinum-certified Top 5 hit. He will take “The Long Way,”
“Love Someone” and more to the streets of Lower Broadway this summer to
headline Nashville’s July 4th Celebration. CMT will air a 90-minute live special
of Let Freedom Sing! that will include performances from the country star and
one of the largest fireworks shows in the nation.
Old Dominion Is Most-Added With 'One Man Band'
And
kudos to Dennis Reese and the RCA crew for notching 51 adds for Old Dominion’s “One Man Band”.
