Chris Gill
Organiser of Gilly's Country Music Club in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Chris is a finalist for consistently promoting country music artists for over 30 years
Helena Mace
The south coast-based singer-songwriter is a finalist for her hard work in developing her own career and supporting others despite being diagnosed with a benign brain tumour
Sadly, nobody I voted for received a
nomination.
Katy Hurt has released one of the best
EPs I’ve heard in a long time and two of the videos are outstanding.
Unfinished Business (EP; Amazon UK - UK iTunes) which debuted at #13 UK Country iTunes
Album Chart and peaked at #2 (#66 UK iTunes all-genres)
Maverick said ”We gave it a 5 STAR
review in our Jan/Feb issue of 2019, describing it as "a phenomenal EP
from one of the UK's brightest talents" – go check it out!
Katy is one of the hardest working
artists (along with her band) on the scene playing numerous gigs &
festivals each year.
Warner Bros Records artiste Catherine McGrath back
in April 2018 was poised to become the first international crossover star from
the burgeoning UK country scene. She played her first UK headline tour and headed
out to Australia to play some shows with Australian star Morgan Evans in September.
The Northern Irish
country singer scored her Official UK Top 100 Album Chart debut at No.13 with first album TALK OF THIS TOWN (3,839 sales | Amazon UK - UK
iTunes). She spent a second week on the chart (13-61; 1,300 sales,
2-week total 5,140). The album also debuted at No1. On the Official UK Country Album Top 20 (Week Ending 9 Aug 2018) and has spent multiple weeks on
the 20. It debuted at #1 UK Country iTunes Chart (#6 all-genres)
She got major airplay support from BBC Radio 2 for her
single Lost In The Middle. On
the BBC Radio 2 Playlist (4 Aug 2018)
Catherine’s Talk Of
This Town was named Album of the Week.
Aptly McGrath has commented on the
numerous, positive comparisons her work so far has drawn with early Taylor Swift material. She also
featured in a BBC Documentary Beyond Nashville and joined Hunter Hayes on the
mainstage at C2C 2019.
UK Country
Pop trio The
Adelaides were said to be “on the brink of something huge”
when the trio were invited to perform at CMA Fest taking place on 6-9 June 2019
(supporting the CMA Foundation & music education). A young
band, in every sense, Paris Georgia, Alicia Alba and Abi
Phillips, nonetheless hark back to the old time Country traditions of
talent, truth and integrity. The band have proved
themselves to be a formidable live act, wowing hardcore country audiences. In
October, the band will again support Charles Esten on his UK
tour [having done so in January] which includes a night at
the legendary Royal Albert Hall in
London.
Very
popular on the UK Festival scene this year the band
played shows on each day of the 2019 C2C Festival, as they did in
2018. They have performed support slots for Catherine McGrath, Megan
McKenna, Ashley Campbell & Mo Pitney, Andy
Brown and Key West. Those live shows went fantastically
well and The Adelaides went on to perform at very notable festivals
in summer 2018; The British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park on
the same bill as Michael Bublé and Van Morrison, Ramblin’ Man Festival, Cornbury, Nashville
Meets London, Black Deer Festival and at the Long
Road Festival. This year will see plenty more festival appearances
including The British Country Music Festival on
14th September.
After
their first BBC Radio 2 spin on the Bob Harris Country Show a couple of weeks
back The Adelaides performed LIVE on BBC Radio 2 for Michael Ball (June 23)!
I’m no awards aficionado but that seems more like a popularity vote than a constructive awards process to me!— Simon J Birds (@djSJBirds) June 23, 2019
This is always a problem when you throw awards over to the public. Awards should go to people on merit and not to those with a good social media base. Sadly this happens not just in country music. “Buying” awards rather than earning them is meaningless & shallow. No credibility https://t.co/ldPus2wbhZ— Hotdisc (@HotdiscTop40) June 24, 2019
Ags Connolly – He performed a “fabulous” set at UKCountryRadio.com’s
2018 UK Country Music & Listeners Awards 11th Party. His album have
received glowing 5 STAR reviews in Country Music People.
BBC Radio
Shropshire said of his last album that it is “one of best UK albums I’ve ever
heard… I’ve been a huge fan seeing him live was absolutely
brilliant, his songs so strong” and that he is “One of finest performers to
come from UK”.
Jake Morrell – Respected by other UK artists he has played twice
at the C2C Festival and appearances at Glastonbury. Jake was ‘discovered’ by
Dermot O’Leary, who featured him on his Radio 2 Show. One influential listener
just so happened to be Glastonbury boss Emily Eavis, who immediately asked Jake
to perform at the iconic festival.
Jade Helliwell – The reigning 2-time
BCMA Female Vocalist of the Year won 2 awards in October retaining her Female
Artist of the Year crown and adding Song of the Year for ‘Boom Tick’. On May 21, 2018 she self-released 5
track EP INFATUATION (Amazon UK- UK iTunes) which debuted and peaked at #3 UK
iTunes Country Albums (#146 UK iTunes all-genre). She made several high profile 2018 festival appearances (Buckle
& Boots, Nashville Meets London, FSA Fest, Black Thorn) drawing a
nomination for BCMA Entertainer of the Year. On Nov 16, 2018 she released a new
single “Drive” (116 Records) which has received airplay on Chris
Country Radio. She has 70,000 Followers on Facebook.
Twinnie (Twinnie
Lee Moore) - She signed a record deal with BMG Rights Management on 23 August
2017 and the critically acclaimed country songstress, actress, and model shared
this journey on her 2019 Better When I’m Drunk EP for BMG—which dropped March 1
which climbed to No1 on the UK Country iTunes chart.
The first
single and title track from the EP, “Better When I’m Drunk” has
had massive exposure on Country Hits Radio.
She
joined the CMT Next Women Of Country UK Tour in May joining
Cassadee Pope & Logan Brill. Whilst recently in Nashville she performed at
the CMT Songbird Supper Club at the Historic Neihoff Building and attended the
2019 CMT Music Awards at Bridgestone Arena on June 05, 2019. She will be
opening for Lauren Alaina on her July UK Tour.
The only
conclusion as to why none of the above were not nominated is that their
fanbases may not have been aware of these awards and don’t listen to UKCountryRadio.com
or the artists did not launch an online campaign for votes.

The UK Country Music Awards 2019 Award Sponsors
UKCountryRadio.com were looking
for sponsorship to help them put together their annual Birthday Party And
Awards, which performs the dual role of celebrating UKCountryRadio.com’s
birthday through a four-hour concert, and announcing the winners of the UK
Country Music Awards.
Last year UKCountryRadio.com
tried raising money to help fund the 2018 UK Country Music Awards. They stated
they needed £3,000 to enable them to stage an Awards ceremony
similar to 2017s.
The cost of sponsoring UKCountryRadio.com's UK Country Artist Of The Year Award was £1,000. It costs £250 to sponsor one of the Award categories (The sponsor does not have to be present at the ceremony - although a pair of tickets would be made available).
