AUSSIE NEWS
(24 May 2019) Brisbane-based singer/songwriter 20-year-old
Jessica Emily Odgers was set to release her debut EP – THE GIRL WITH
THREE NAMES – on Friday May 31.
"The EP captures Jessica becoming who she
is," according to a spokesman for the artist, "from teenager to
adult, finding love, falling out of love and getting to know herself."
"When planning my EP... I wanted a body of work
that best introduced me and my music into the world," Jessica said.
Lead single from the release is Fall Back, co-written
by Jessica with Nashville writers Hannah May Allison and John Millar and is
described as "a fun, storytelling love song that kicks off and introduces
the distinctive sound and style of the upcoming EP.
“I went into the co-write knowing I wanted to write
something fun and uplifting," Jessica said, "but with a different
sound to my previous single Candy. Hannah told us she had this title 'Fall
Back' in her head for a while and didn’t know what to do with it.
"We started playing with lyric ideas and melodies
and then we figured out it would be a love song and the idea for falling for
someone and hoping they would feel the same way in return, the fall back."
In late 2016 with a nudge and a home-made sign from
her Mum, Keith Urban invited Jessica on stage at his Brisbane show on
the Ripcord Tour for a special performance of his hit Somewhere In My Car.
In 2018, Jess attended the Country Music Association
of Australia Academy of Country music, and released her debut single Candy
hitting number 3 on the country iTunes charts and No. 16 on the KIX Radio
Hottest 20.

(21 March 2019) New BPI report reveals 20% jump
in UK recorded music revenues
According to research in the BPI’s new yearbook All
About The Music 2019, UK recorded music revenues are up by over 20% in three
years. An official press release stated that the growth was, “fuelled by the
popularity of diverse British artists and innovative record label marketing”.
A top line summary showed 3.1% growth in 2018, boosted
by the combination of surges in streaming, the enduring appeal of vinyl
and the growth of sync. Streaming subscription revenues were up 220% in a
three-year window, making it worth nearly £500m and accounting for 60% of
income. Similarly, revenues from streaming were reported to be more than double
the revenues generated by physical formats.
Perhaps predictably, revenue of £176.8 million from CD
sales was in line with a long-term trend of decline – down by over a
quarter (-28.4%) in 2018. The BPI, however, stressed
that CD sales remains important to the industry in delivering just over a fifth
(20.4%) of its income.....
In 2018 Streaming accounted for nearly
two-thirds of UK music consumption; 2 billion weekly streams milestone
with demand driven by a phenomenal 91 billion audio streams served through
Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and other audio streaming services. That represented a 33.5 per cent rise on
2017.

(24 May 2019) Randy Travis Drops First Song In
Six Years “One In A Row”. Announces CMA Fest 2019 Book Signing Schedule
“One In A Row”, is a song about missing someone as much as the world has missed the Country Music Hall of Fame member’s one-of-a-kind baritone since a massive stroke in 2013 affected his ability to perform.
The song, penned by Buddy Jewell and Thom McHugh, was recorded years before the stroke but never widely released to audiences. It showcases Travis’ deep, velvety smooth, signature tone with the traditional country sound that has been a cornerstone of his career since 1986 when he “turned [the country] format 180 degrees from where it’s heading, back and made it bigger than it ever was” [Garth Brooks to Rolling Stone Country].
“Traditional country music was all I wanted to do --
it’s all I knew how to do.” - Randy Travis in his memoir, Forever and Ever,

Rhett ramps up to unveil his
upcoming fourth studio album CENTER POINT ROAD (The Valory Music Co. | Amazon UK)

Ballerini. Acting as the mantle for his most autobiographical project to date
and co-written by Thomas Rhett with Jesse Frasure, Amy Wadge and Cleve Wilson,
“Center Point Road,” captures what it feels like to stare down an unknown
future, with a pressure-cooker of emotions magnifying every fork in the road.
“‘Center Point Road’ to me is very nostalgic,” Thomas Rhett shared. “It's about being young and thinking ‘this is as complicated as life is ever going to get,’ not realizing one day you move on to the next chapter and it comes at you quickly. Kelsea and I have been good friends for years now and with her growing up similarly in a Tennessee town, I knew she would relate to what we were writing about. She absolutely nailed it.”

(23 May 2019) Hayden Panettiere's Boyfriend Charged With
Felony Domestic Violence
Former Nashville star Hayden Panettiere's boyfriend, Brian Hickerson was formally charged with felony domestic violence after his arrest earlier
this month. Hickerson could face serious jail time if convicted.
According to Page Six, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s
Office has charged Hickerson with one count of injuring a girlfriend. He was
scheduled for arraignment on Thursday (May 23). Hickerson could face up to four
years in prison if convicted of the charges.
The charges follow Hickerson's arrest for domestic
violence in early May, when police responded to a call from the couple's
residence in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, the couple went out drinking in Hollywood on the
night of May 1, and when they returned home, they had an argument that
escalated into a physical fight. When officers responded around 2AM on May 2,
they found redness and marks on Panettiere's body, and after interviewing both
parties, they took Hickerson into custody and charged him with domestic
violence. He was later released on a $50,000 bond.
Panettiere's wellness has been the source of much
tabloid speculation in recent months in regard to both her relationship with
Hickerson and her drinking. In October of 2018, police responded after
Hickerson got into an altercation with his father to find Panettiere reportedly
"intoxicated" and "frantic" when they arrived.
