He described Gary as “a very good singer-songwriter, loved by many”
Listen here:
Gary says this of the new song: Shame really came from a situation I was looking in on. I could see a person making the same mistake and getting hurt but never learning from it. I was also listening to Lady Antebellum’s song ‘Need You Now’ which triggered me to thinking that although in their song it all ends ‘happily ever after’ I felt that it sounded like someone might get hurt.
Hence ‘Shame’ was born almost as a reply to ‘Need You Now’ and the subject needed a little more of an edgy sound on the recording, which I feel we achieved and I’m pretty excited about people hearing it.
Thankfully it maintains a
strong country blend stirring in steel guitar and piano.
Gary whose inspirations
include Brad Paisley and Keith Urban believes that he has found a sound which
is my own, “which I feel sets me apart"
he explained.
Dad-of-two Gary Quinn, of Leigh Road, Leigh, Wigan
performed his new song Shame at the
inaugural BUCKLE AND BOOTS country
music festival – and apparently it went down a storm.
He co-founded the event
with Karl Hancock and was delighted
that 40 artists performed over the weekend, including top American country
singer Phil Vassar and country band Jess and the Bandits.
Gary told the Leigh Journal: “The
festival was absolutely amazing. More than 1,000 people turned up and were full
of praise for it and I hope that it has given all the artists, including those
just starting out, a platform to really show people what they can do”.
Gary, a much respected
singer-songwriter on the British country circuit, was instrumental in drawing
up the line up inviting artists to
Gary spoke with Dan Wharton from online Blog www.yourlifeinasong.com in this great Buckle & Boots interview:
It turned out that the Buckle & Boots Acoustic Tent was now home to a songwriters round with Gary Quinn compering, ably assisted by Sonia Leigh and Carley Stenson. GQ's set went down a treat at this year's Buckle & Boots Fest in Manchester! Congrats to the Buckle & Boots team on a great event. The highlight for GQ was being invited on stage by US Artist Phil Vassar to perform a duet of Kris Krisfofferson's 'Help Me Make It Through The Night'! - W21 Music Review
